I am not sure if you know but Porsche charges you for a radio delete option.
So yes there are people who pay more for the car without the radio.

No... my post suggests and says that no one should want to pay more to NOT have a screen. Let's say there are 2 identical cars, and one had no radio. Would you pay more for the one that costs more with no radio so you can focus on just driving?

I'm trying to find out if one can format either the SD card and/or the internal memory via the Foito app.
That's not possible, you can only select all and then delete them all. For now, I found that using MacDroid to mount the M11D as an MTP device works best for me.
I think I will just format my SD cards in my M11. It must be a complete oversight although the manual mentions formatting memory via your computer. Must have been thought up by someone who does not shoot an M.
Then how do I format the internal memory. Come on Leica. Another one of their stupid software engineers let this slip right on by.
Not offering the option to format the internal memory or SD card is not ideal, in my opinion. Relying on a smartphone to delete files is also a drawback. This camera seems to push us towards constantly connecting to our phones, which is something I try to avoid.
I've researched this before, and my understanding is that formatting an SD card is generally better for its health and future data integrity than simply deleting files. Formatting resets the file system, which can prevent data corruption and reduce wear over time. Deleting files individually can lead to fragmented space and unnecessary wear on the card, potentially shortening its lifespan.
Here are a couple of sources for further reading that I found with a quick search: (copy and paste the links if they don't work)
I agree, it’s quite frustrating indeed. What I am doing now is not optimal by any means, so I am only using the internal storage as a backup right now. Whenever I need to copy my files to the PC, I just pop out the SD card as always and format it on the computer instead of on the camera. Using Fotos is not that great either. In my experience, it eats up battery much faster, and the connection with my iOS device is worse than with my Android (it lacks some functionality on the iOS app also). Nevertheless, with the exception of copying and deleting files, my overall impression after a few days is great. So far, no freezes like with my previous M11s, and I care less about whether I took a perfect exposure or not (though I am spending much more time on each picture than before).
I find it strange that Jono Slack quotes some WD engineer who debunks old theories about card formatting. I frankly could care less about what some engineer says. I want to format both memories just like all other M11 models allow with the M11D. How complicated is that?
Now I find it ridiculous that beta testers did not vehemently object to this strange formatting method Leica is trying to cram down our throats.
Frankly I am so disappointed I just might send mine back unopened.
I thought about returning it as well when I first discovered the issue, but I have actually never had a memory storage failure in my life. The chance of both the internal storage and my SD card failing at the same time due to the camera’s inability to format either storage is close to zero.

I'm sorry to hear that. I thought you would receive one right away. As you mentioned, it could be due to limited shipping to Canada.
i know of half a dozen European countries where the m11d is on stock in a plethora of stores, i know half a dozen stores in the States offering it on stock, and then i know half a dozen Canadian stores ready to take pre-orders. what's wrong here
meanwhile, on top of that, was my freshly traded-in m10d already passed on to a new owner... now, what's wrong here

There seem to be some excuse-making that feels a bit like gaslighting.
I brought it up on LUF and it seems many others are OK with the way it currently is-delete files via the Foto app or use SdFormatter. That is such non-sense.
So one gets the new M11D. Then with complete surprise one finds that the only way to format an SD card or the internal memory Leica says go do it on your PC. What!
Yes, that is true. There was no provision for formatting any memory on the M11D even through the Foto app. How could even the beta testers let this pass? Heck, with all the other M11 variants one can format both memories (SD card and internal) with a menu selection. How could even imagine that Leica who wants to keep things simple with the M11D has just done the opposite by complicating a simple task of formatting memory.
How do I feel? Let down again by Leica just when there should be a positive moment with a new camera.
What is with this company? Time after time they continue to disappoint on various levels.

You did a great job expressing your opinion with facts. However, I recommend leaving it as is now. As I mentioned, there seems to be some excuse-making happening. When I purchased the M11 as soon it was released, I reported freezes, while most on other platforms claimed their cameras were perfect from the start. Finally with the latest firmware, I don't experience any freezes anymore, but it's important to be honest with our reports and opinions.
I considered the M11-D as a replacement for my M-D Typ 262, but I decided against it because it seems too complex. It would mean replacing screen chimping with phone chimping, especially for adjusting various settings. What I appreciate about the M-D is that it limits adjustments to only the essentials: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. As I mentioned before, I think Leica had it right at that time.
