Did you use your own inserts or did it come with those? Sweet set-up.

The inserts are all burton except for the gray one, which I got off of an old lowepro bag of mine.

I'm thinking about getting a Lowepro Nova 5 AW shoulder bag. Anyone have experience with this bag and how is the storage space?...I haven't been able to see one in person.

I just got mine today but I can't figure out how to get the camera in it. It is sticking up way too high and a bit too wide and I can't move the dividers. I have the eyecup extender on it and a 18-55 lens. I just sent back the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 since it wasn't working right. I was hoping to fit that lens on my camera in the bag. After looking at all the pictures of the backpacks, I think I would have been better off with that.

Debbie,
i can't understand why you can't move your dividers, the one i've got all the dividers are velcro. You just pull 'em and stick 'em back where you want them.
As for not being able to get your 20D in with lense attached, i used to to have my 24-70mm on the body and stand it lense down into the bag, no problems. are you sure it's a Nova 5
hope this helps in some small way, if not just ignore me.

If anyone is interested, I just got the Lowepro Nova 5 in black on eBay and it was brand new for $42. They shipped mine out extremely fast too.

Here is the link to the seller I bought mine from:
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcameraland

I see they have listed another one too at that price

I can move the dividers but not where I really would like them since the center one really can't go anywhere (limited velcro there). I think I just need to play around with it a bit more. Right now I have my camera on the left side, lens down but its resting on those 2 dividers with the flaps. I feel stupid now, am I supposed to remove those? I thought they were supposed to suspend the camera up a bit so the camera weight isn't resting on the lens (they are close around the lens so the camera just fits but is just a bit too high, (probably because of the eyepiece extender).

I don't know if this is any help but i used to put my camera/lense in the space directly below ( in my pic ) the space made by the "ears". The straight dividers don't seem as stiff as the ears ones, this allows the camera to sink in a little more and be a little "snugger", and should give you the room for the eyecup.
As for the camera/lense touching the bottom of the bag, i might be wrong and someone correct if i'm not but there's about an inch of foam on the bottom, and will have no adverse effect on the equipment inside. If it does the my gear's knackered

Hi Umbro

Check the link below:

http://www.lowepro.com/Products/Shoulder_Bags/allWeather/Nova_5_AW.aspx

It's for the Nova 5AW on the Lowepro website and if you click #3 in Alternate views - you see a 'cut away' drawing showing cameras being supported by the ear thingys - I do the same with my Nova 5AW (my picture is on page 2 or 3 of this thread i think)

About the bottom of the Nova 5AW - there is extra padding - and it's removalbe - check this thread - https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/193878#1582531

G'Day Debbie,

I posted this on the link Jason listed above -

"The trick I found to get the bigger lens in there & give it more depth was to remove the extra padding at the bottom of the bag. For some reason it has 2 layers of padding - a non removable one at the very base which is normal thickness ( 10mm or so ) & then a layer which is removable & is at least double the thickness. This takes up a hell of a lot of room & is overkill in my opinion. The bag was almost going back to the store until I discovered this"

With the extra padding removed & all the dividers lowered there is a heap of depth for the Camera sitting on top of the padding. I can get some pics for you of my setup - send me a PM with your email & I'll reply with some pics if you want them.

I notice a good 99% of people use Lowepro Mini Trekker and one with a Tamrac Expedition 4, is there a reason for that? I have a Lowepro Mini Trekker Classic right now and thinking of an up grade to either a Lowepro Mini Trekker AW or the Tamrac Expedition 4 but can not decide. I bough the Lowepro because at the time the local shop only carry the Lowepro. Anyone with pros and cons on either one?
Thanks
Le

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I think the Tamrac bags are built better and use stronger materials. I have the tamrac expedition 7 which is pretty big but it is really well made and it seems a lot more thought went into designing them compared to some of my lowepro bags(just some little things). They are made by the same company I think, but the I was told the Tamracs are also U.S. made.

Lowepro TrimTrekker. Canon d30 w/ grip and 28-135is installed. Sigma 15-30, and a 550ex in the top part. Canon 80-200 2.8L in the bottom drawer. Space available for the Gmini220 in the top. Extra CF cards, filters, and crap in the outside pocket. Total width is just around 6.5" (slightly wider than the camera is tall). This is a great backpack for city work, as it is much narrow and much less likely to cause massive traffic jam issues with most of these large packs. It can be used as a should bag with the included shoulder strap. And because it loads vertically, is't likely to dump all your lenses on the ground if you ever forget to zip it up...

Doesn't look like they make them anymore, but here's some pictures from google:

Interesting too see how others have organized their equipment.

Here is my lowepro mini trekker, I like the weight of this bag a mere 2.8lbs. With all the equipment it weighs 16lbs, very easy to carry around
