True, but now I have a much better idea what the different bags can do.

Here's my Lowepro PhotoTrekker Classic:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~eroelofs/private/tmp/bag-gear.jpg

top: 300 f/4L IS
middle: 1.4x Extender II and lens hood, 70-200 f/2.8L mounted on the 10D + BG-ED3
bottom: Sigma 24-70 f/2.8, X-Drive Pro 30GB and a lost EF 35-70 which usually isn't in the bag.

All smaller stuff such as remote control, BP-511 batteries, several CF cards, X-Drive car-adapter, manuals, papers, bills etc are all on the left side of the bag.

Edit: No idea why that 35-70 was in there. Normally that space is empty for a reason. When I go out shooting, I mount the hood on the 70-200 and put the 1.4x Ext in the empty place (where now the 35-70 resides). I fold the seperation piece (between the hood and the 70-200) down - so I put the 10D+70-200+Hood in the bag.

Nice hand strap, I have been looking for something like that that I could use without the optional battery grip. Can you share were you got it?

Thanks,

I just picked this huge Lowepro Super Trekker up at a sale (1/3 of the list price).
For some reason it had been sitting unsold for ages in a local store.

Here's my nature and wildlife setup for the coming spring... not that I'm looking forward to carrying this around. It is however surprisingly possible to carry as it has very good waist and shoulder straps and a real adjustable frame.

The contents is
- 20D with 500/4
- 1D Mark II with 100-400
- 1.4x and 2x extenders
- 550 and 420 flashes, with Better Beamer for the 550
- 100/2.8 Macro USM
- Kenko extension rings
- 17-40/4
- 15/2.8 fisheye

Add an assortment of smaller items like CF cards, cable remote, the Manfrotto 055PRO tripod with gimbal head, some water, coffee and snacks and it weighs in at or around 20kg... I think the hikes will be on the short side.

EDIT: I found a new arrangement with the 500 in the center, changed 2nd pic.

I use an EW-83DII Hood on my 17-40. I carry it in the front compartment. The STD Hood is too wide also IMO. I would carry it in the front compartment also.

I have the Tamrac 759 and it's perfect for my needs. I fit a 20D, D60, 70-200 F4L, 17-40 F4L, Sigma 50-500, 50 1.8 Mk.2, and a tamron 28-200 in it. A lot of the smaller stuff fits in the top two compartments and there's still room in the lower padded laptop slot which I leave empty so it can fit in below the airplane seat in front of me. Carrying this as a backpack can be a little exhausting, but the shoulder strap (additional accessory) comes in handy.

The tamrac 759 was the most suitable for my needs - too bad I ended up spending on the Lowepro trekker with wheels, the photo trekker, and the mini trekker before I found the tamrac.

I have a Lightware Digital BackPack coming on Monday. Very highly recommended on SportsShooter and a really excellent article about it. Hard to find though, Lightware is backordered 6-8 weeks.

Well I don't have a second camera so I had to take my body and one lens to take the shot

http://home.scarlet.be/~tvelst/bag.jpg

This is a Nature Trekker AWII, and it's obvious I still have some space left over in the bag for a fast wide prime I absolutely need and a macro lens

Mike,

No, I keep the Hood separate from the lens with this bag.

Andy,

Right click on the picture you want to post. Then go to "Properties" then highlight and copy the address.

Post that address in here and it should work.
