p.1 #1Show us your backpack
I've really enjoyed the "Show us your..." threads in the other forums. I would like to see what people really carry. You might have a lot of stuff, but what will you really carry around all day?

Here's my backpack, I have a few different configurations, but this is my most common. I suppose that it looks a bit like a Canon marketing brochure, but here goes:

A Lowepro mini trekker AW

20D with 24-70mm f/2.8L
70-200mm f/2.8 IS
1.4x extender
10-22mm EF-S hiding inside shade for 24-70
Lensbaby
580EX (stofen hiding under lensbaby)
Angle finder (to get down low)

That's mine, what do you carry around?

I can't show you one picture, I have a couple of different bags and waist packs that I load up with as *little* gear as I dare bring along for the day, three or four lenses max. I usually bring the camera on my shoulder with one lens attached, and either a small waist pack with two primes, or a larger waist bag if I have to bring along one or two zooms. I use a backpack if I go walking with a longer tele, with one or two lenses in side pockets.

How do you like the Lensbaby - I'm quite fond of mine even though I don't use it that much

I'm also interested in seeing how people load their backpacks - specifically if you rock the canon 200eg bag (i'm thinkint about picking one up).

Photo Trekker from top to bottom, left to right;
Sigma EFDGS or 580Ex
70-200 IS

10D & 24-70
Hoods & Food
Stupidly wide sigma ring
50mm 1.8 & Extention tubes
Cheapo photo storage disk

180 Macro
Zen 16 Feye & 2x TC
18-55 EF
Too many stepping rings

Usual stuff in the other pockets...

The 24-70 will take the 18-55's place in the lower right when I can afford a super telephoto. I originally planned to get the Sigma 120-300, but might go for a 400 Sigma or DO. Any new lenses at all are a long way off yet though.

As crazy as it may seem, I happily carry all this whenever I'm out for a day with food, water etc. When I find a scene I like, I dump the bag on the ground and wonder around the area taking some photos before packing up and moving on. It suits my style perfectly, as I never know what I'm going to shoot - I'm no pro or anything like that, I just really enjoy photography.

The tripod has since been abandoned since I got my pole/pod. When I'm not wondering in the wild I have a hama pack about half the size for urban stuff or when I'm required to be active, but I've yet to use so far this year.

That one's either a Photo Trekker or a Nature Trekker, never can remember which. This one's my working bag, a Pro Mag 2 AW:

I also have a Pro Mag 2 AW, just not a 2nd camera to take a photo of everything in it... so here's my try (minus the camera and lens I took the photo with). I love this bag.

Isn't Photoshop amazing. You can take a guy, have him hold his hands out, and drop a nice fish right in 'em. And I think I see the taxidermist incision line between the 2 bottom fins on that Striped Bass
