Interesting too see how others have organized their equipment.

Here is my lowepro mini trekker, I like the weight of this bag a mere 2.8lbs. With all the equipment it weighs 16lbs, very easy to carry around

You don't take your hoods with you?

My bag is one size up (Nature trekker), with hoods attached, I get less stuff in it...

I've got a Lowepro Stealth Reporter 650 & a Mini Trekker. Seeing as the Mini Trekker's already been shown, here's the Stealth Reporter (yep, that's a EOS 1N where my 10D normally goes).

The cool feature is the quick-access zip in the lid.

cheers,
Merv

Hi Flappie, The hood for 300mm f/4 is a retractable hood in the lens, TS-E 90 has the hood reversed, 135 f/2 has the hood reversed, fisheye has a build in petal hood, so I am left with hoods for the TS-E 45 and 17-40, which are small enough to fit in the zipper in front of the camera. The MP-E doesnt have a hood.

Dave, your tripod legs should fit into one of the side wand pockets and there is a compression strap near the top of the pack on each side that will hold the tripod fast. I have a four section carbon Hakuba with an Acratech head. Collapsed, it is just over 21" and 3 lbs 11 oz for the whole thing and this has ridden very nicely on the Wraith. The belt has stablizer straps on each side that prevent sway. I basically get the hip belt placed right over the hip bones and adjust the belt up right and then

Great! Thanks!

Do you have a preference on lens cases (one's that work well with the Wraith)?

Dave, I found some Lowepro cases at my local camera shop that fit my lenses perfect. They are protective and easy to get into. The strap on the back of the case that holds it secure to the belt is unique as it can be opened and slid over the belt strap. Heavy velcro holds it in place and another saftey velcro strap holds the first even more securely. There are many sizes for various lenses.

I did have to get a couple of velcro straps made by OR to lace through the belt attachment points. They make the place to fasten the lenses. You will see what I mean when you view the pack. It comes with a couple of fastex type slots to thread a little strap.

I took my pack into the camera shop and experimented till I found what I wanted. Good luck and have fun setting this up.

Merv, you said you have the mini trekker and the stealth reporter bags, which one do you use more or in which situations do you find yourself using the backpack? Travelling? I have the reporter 100 and it's too small to fit my 70-200 F4. I'm thinking of getting another bag, a backpack, but now I see you can fit your 70-200 2.8 in the stealth i'm rethinking...

The backpack I was thinking of getting was the computrekker aw.

Mike L,

I mainly use the Reporter bag when I'm shooting a wedding as I like the quick access to my gear whilst on the move.

It's a large bag though so if I'm shooting something where I'm not moving around as much and don't need the quick access, I'll be inclined to take the mini trekker.
Sport is an example (although when I eventually get a 300 2.8 I'll probably need a bigger backpack...).

Another useful feature of the Reporter is it's compartment for a laptop, although I don't have a need for this yet.

Hope this helps.

cheers,
Merv

yclui and Jkan2001,

Is it possible to add a laptop to this bag?

I need a bag tha can carry everything on my signature plus a laptop and a tripod. I don't have a tripod for photography, currently I'm using the one I use for video but is really heavy.

Jkan2001, what tripod you have on your backpack on the pic? I think I would like something like that to carry around on the backpak.

Thanks!

This is great picture. I have less gear and was filling up my Mini Trekker. I noticed in your picture you have you lenses pointing toward the back. Dooo. Mine eat up so much space pointing toward the top. What a fool!

not a problem... i love those little things!

They are Minolta soft neoprene cases for their G500 camera. I stumbled across them here in Houston at the Houston Camera Exchange and bought like 6 of them at $5 each.

http://www.lifeatf8.com/temp/g500case.jpg

they measure in about 3 1/2W x 4"L x 1"D and work out great for storing little items such case, remote cable release, angle finders, off camera shoe cords etc etc.

You can get the Milota Cases at Adorama for $4.95 each a

I use these little guys in my Lowepro back pack to make sure my smaller items are somewhat protected etc

Minitrekker (and Computrekker) owners...I tried placing a 1D2 in the pack at the top/normal location. The access flap does indeed zipper over the top of the camera, but it just seems like it is a tight fit (slight bulge at that point) Looks like one looses a little protection at that point by compressing the padding. Couldn't (or should ) Lowepro make these packs a little deeper for a pro size camera, somewhat like the Photo Trekker Classic for instance?
Is everyone ok with the depth of these particular bags and the resultant protection? (Almost forgot...add an extra 1/4" if you leave a body plate on the camera as well for an even tighter fit!) Your thoughts please...

i really love this pelican cause its has rollers and it is carry on size for airplanes. after my last gig in houston, i wont be carrying gear no more. its just too heavy. using wheels and pulling it is a dream. additionally, everything fits perfectly.

gilles, its just a quick way for me to spot the lens i need. if you look close enough, it has the focal length on the cap. it doesnt leave for an attractive cap but we all know that caps dont need to be 'pretty'.

I may be a bit late but here goes:

I carry an older Large Tenba backpack. From the top, there are several Cokin P adapters, holders and filters, a 112mm circular polarizer for my Tokina 300/2.8(not shown), a Sigma 500DG Super flash and a Giottos rocket blower. Behind the flash is a Minolta light meter. Starting at the bottom left (clockwise) is a 10D with grip, a Kenko 300 1.4 with a Sigma 2x underneath, a Sigma 105mm Macro, a Canon EF-S 10-22 with hood, a Canon 28-135mm IS with hood, extension tubes and a 20D with grip. In the middle is my Canon 70-200mm 2.8 L. Before closing, I lay a reflector/diffuser set on top of everything. On the flap are 2 pockets which contain various batteries, allen wrenches, a battery charger, (4) 512mb, (2) 1gb and (2) 2gb CF cards, pens, model releases and more. Needless to say, it is a bit heavy Oh, and I carry a Giottos 8160 CF tripod with an Acratech ballhead.
