Louie, did you end up buying that camera then? I was so hesitant to borrow it from Sony Pro because I know I would cave in if I do so. My resistance level is low enough to begin with and looking at the images posted here, as I indicated previously would corrode that even more so.

Hi Joshua, yes, the 7 days loaner from Sony pushed me over the edge. The more I shoot with this camera the more I like it. FPS and Pre-capture are just fun to shoot, I'm shooting standard at 30fps with C5 set to 60fps and that seems to work out quite well for me. Easy enough to change to 120fps if and when I want to. As to AF, not sure I would say it's better than the A1, but eye detect seems to snap in pretty fast even on moving birds.
I find it a great companion to my A1.
I'm quite surprised that the A93 doesn't seem to get the attention that I thought it would have gotten, being a new camera. Cropping always seems to pop up as a reason for not getting it, and I can see that for small birds and distance shooting but for my stye shooting I haven't found cropping to be an issue. Again, I'm amazed by some of the comments being made about who needs 120fps, until you've shot a little at that frame rate you really don't know what you've missed in the way of action.
Hi Joshua, resistance is futile.
I just updated to the latest firmware in my A1 and A9 III.
Well, here goes... my first attempt with my A9 III, which is totally new to me.
However having updated my A1 to firmware version 2.01 and now to 2.02 made the A9 III look already pretty familiar nevertheless. Also both firmware updates were from memory card in slot 1.

I am trying really hard to resist...and you guys are not making it easy for me. The guy I bought my GM 300mm from had a few copies of the A9 III. He dangled that in front of me... Oh, I got so close... 😂.

Joshua I understand your situation.
I decided to have fun with my A9 III while waiting for the A1 II to materialize.
Good luck with your decisions to make.
Cheers, Karl-Heinz.
PS: I get incredible BIF shots from everyday backyard birds that otherwise would be meh to photograph again.

Well put Karl, having fun while you wait for the A1 II, I pretty much feel the same way.

Can I ask a question- Isn’t that just video at this point? Don’t get me wrongs it’s really cool but seems like with that many frames per- it’s just creating slow motion videos vs just shooting video.
Not critiquing your work here, just interested in your thoughts.

Thank you for your question.
I don't know much about video.
I am interested shooting raw images and combining them into animation.
That's it. I think it gives me a lot of flexibility to deal with the raw images.
I also think this technique has the potential for great image quality.
The limiting factor is the final conversion to the GIF format as it only supports 8 bits.
Before the final conversion the animated image sequence looks like high resolution images in Photoshop.
Too bad I can't share those.
