Tim-Really superior work-I don't think I've ever seen much better.
What, if any, post processing did you apply? I don't see any of the usual artifacts, etc., from over-sharpening. Nice clean photos.
The first shot is perfect, it's well framed and shows what's about to happen.
And then you need the "money shot" where he makes contact with the ball.
Seeing those 2 shots would be amazing. Bad luck in your case, I think with 60fps you would have gotten it because it seems like it's exactly in between 2 of your shots.
thanks for the vid, it was fun to watch, had to laugh though us sony users have been used to videoing with class leading af for 4 years 🤨🤔 canon video users have known it for years as well but they say it just costs to much to switch systems and if your making money and clients are happy why change.
Often the will make eye contact as they fly past, as this one does 8 frames later - and these are the ones you want - clipped the wings here unfortunately
A9iii is quick at snapping into focus, and significantly faster than the A1 in this scenario, where any slight delay will mean missing the key frames. Typical with the A1 you will need to acquire focus when the bird is further away - which inevitably means more failed attempts as the birds will seldom hold their line long enough to fill the frame. It will be interesting to see how the A1ii performs here.
Original un-cropped frames taken with 300 f2.8 @420mm f/4 1/8000s ISO1000. I probably should have been using f/8 but the close proximity of the background wasn’t ideal for that.
