Here in EU, you can already find plenty of A9II at 3000 €, and the first A9 between 1700 € - 2200 €

The first A9, that I use on a regular basis for my job, is still the best bang for the buck camera that I ever owned.

UPDATED camera. I have the a9 but I won’t call it updated. It is missing so many simple things, like proper video codecs, updated af, better ibis, better lcd/evf, menu system, focus map, breathing compensation, etc, etc, etc.

I know what you mean, but I guess that Sony simply expects to make a greater amount of money by selling this new technology instead of just updating the A9II...

Folks who try to publicly shame others are the ones with deep, dark secrets to hide.
I bet most of us would be horrified if a hacker got hold of our google search histories.

I respect Matt G for being so open about his so-called-perversions.
Whatever he's into, he's not ashamed of it, so kudos to him.
It's the "oh-I-am-so-rich-and-important-and-fabulous" kind that I find repulsive.

I've always gotten THAT gut feeling about the guy, and his recent content only cemented it. Ooogy dude.

Perverted Nikon guy, and Thom Hogan can't hold a candle when it comes to lying and bashing to Matt Irwin. Maybe the most dishonest guy in this business in my opinion.

He was more green with envy than his hat in this one.

Watched a few minutes and turned it off , don't know this bloke tbh but what a complete irritant

AI could handily replace a wire editor/culler if you feed it information on what an ideal shot is among a batch. Just wait...

while not exactly there yet, I did use Aftershoot AI culling to get rid of some 380,000 photos I'd taken in the last 2 years that I never culled before.

It had about 85% success rate of choosing to keep the photos I thought were best.

Good enough that I could go through a batch once, edit the best ones, and then have it scrap 80%+ of the remaining ones and I wouldn't feel bad about it

culling 380,000 photos took less than a day of computing time, and about 20 minutes of my actual review time

Now imagine what AI will do with another year of training. I'm telling you, it's around the corner. Cool details, thanks for sharing.

I have no reason to think so but I agree when it comes to long tele lenses, all three players are probably at about the same stage as of now though the lenses aren't exactly equivalent. The person to whom I responded, did not seem being a long tele lens shooter anyway. I checked his website, and to me, it seemed his talk of Nikon over Sony was not justified. For me and for him Sony is clearly a better choice: better autofocus and better lens line up.

PS. Forgot to mention: there are third party long tele zooms (

The Nikon telephoto lineup completely smokes Sony’s telephoto lineup. Sorry, but It’s not even close.

I think the 600F4 and 400F2.8 from Nikon are best in class. The 800PF is also a cool lens. I personally don't care at all for the 600PF or 400PF, but some people love them. I think it is fair to say that the NIkon telephoto lineup is the best amongst the big 3.

I got to hold and shoot a little bit with the new Sony 300 2.8 today. Wow is that thing amazingly small and light. Don't think I have any need for that lens but it is just unreal what they have done with it. I held it side by side with the 400 2.8 and one feels like a tank, the other like holding a 500pf type lens. If you need this lens you will be thrilled. It was indoors at a Sony event and I did not bother to take any real photos. They did let me attach it to my A1 and shoot with my card but I don't think those shots will mean anything to anyone.

I got a chance to try the a9III today at ProFusion in Toronto. The only thing I am comfortable commenting on is the grip. I've never had a problem with Sony E mount full frame camera design. That said the new grip was really good in hand. The custom buttons on top are more prominent as well. Without the grip attached my pinky finger would still go under the camera. If that is something that bothers you I think you'd want the grip or some sort of bottom plate. It's an impressive camera far beyond my needs and budget.

I definitely agree. Plus, you have all the additional exotic F mount telephoto lenses that are still superb and arguably better optically even today compared to Sony.

You THINK but you don't have any proof. You think what you WANT.

By the way, I am not saying the Nikon lenses are bad. I am sure they must be great lenses. I just don't believe in anecdotal statements, certainly not from a stranger on a forum who has yet to offer any evidence whatsoever.

Ashley, the 400 4.5 is not PF, making it quite an achievement for it's size.

I was replying to YOUR idiotic comments suggesting that Sony somehow has a better telephoto lens lineup compared with Nikon. So you can’t backup what you say? Maybe you shouldn’t make stupid comments when you don’t have all the facts?

AFAIK, nobody in this thread said Sony tele lenses are better. Neither did I. YOU claimed Nikon tele lenses smoke Sony tele lenses So the burden of proof is on YOU.

I admit I was tempted to return your insults. But then I thought this poor guy is so fragile, just asking him to stop making unsubstantiated claims hurt his ego and triggered his anger. That's pathetic. One more chance: back up your claim if you can. Or else, you might want to go back to your Nikon forum where you will find some like-minded FANBOYS who want to cheer for these five letters: N O K I N.
