Many posts on this page express my reaction to reading the posts denigrating the new A7C cameras.
We all have the option to buy an A7rV or a 6700. Why are people slamming Sony for giving us yet another choice, let alone one that has no competition from the other camera makers?

I find this baffling as well. There’s nothing this capable and compact from anyone else, and there are plenty of other options if any aspect of the new C’s are a dealbreaker. The fact the a7rc even exists still blows my mind and I can’t wait to get my hands on one, along with the a7cII.

Jeff it adds to cameras that on market don’t work for some of us. I don’t have extra model cameras to chose from because they went this direction and god knows when a new A1 hits the market if ever. It’s about our options not about the C as I don’t and can’t buy it because if my use.
Basically they took cams off the shelf to buy. People need to understand it’s about Sonys resources being stretched out. What are they going to do long term for still shooters. That’s the point so misunderstood here. I honestly don’t care about the C release it won’t work I get that but what else is the question

Yeah, but it works beautifully for many of us - you'll see that these cameras will fly off the shelves.
I guess your line of thinking is that if the camera does not work (perfectly) for you, Sony has made a mistake and they should not be producing these for the many people who will love them. Live and let live Guy.

No no no it’s not about me that’s where you’re wrong . It’s about the Pro business we face this stuff everyday and we need product that we can rely on. I know the C will sell like crazy but we also have to keep plugging Sony not to forget us still shooters. Hell I hope they sell a boat load. I’m voicing my opinion on behalf of them as well this is a lot of money these two shows and for me it’s a big deal if Sony decides not to make Pro level gear.
I’m retiring pretty much but this industry provided me a great life and lifestyle so I’m always going to support it the best I can and speak out even if I piss all the hobbyists off.

Häh, that's funny, you guys still have have the A7R V, A9 and A1!
I'm a 100% still shooter and the C-series is absolutely my camera of desire since a lot of years!
I would never think about buying a A7R V instead of a A7c R.
So, where is your problem with Sony and still shooters?

I'm not trying to be dogmatic, but rather trying to understand where you are coming from. You can't be saying Sony shouldn't be making cameras unless they have all of the features that Pros want - but that's what it seems like.
So after reading pages and pages, many posters are unhappy with the shutter, EVF and flip our screen. I get it. But a lot of us want the camera even with these "flaws."

A9/A1 are not updated to the levels of the A7RV feature sets maybe even 3 years or more old. These both do have great fast e shutters though. But they could use the faster AF systems and feature sets of the latest models. Question is putting out these C models what did that do to updating the A1/A9 did that push the updates out further in time. My guess they are going to do that

I suspect either or both the a1 II and a9 III will see a release prior to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Releasing now might not work with the best of marketing timelines. As a result we get the C series released first. There is no way Sony will not release the updated AF into the top camera models.

I asked this on another forum (maybe here?) about a release of the A1 and A9iii before the Olympics. Absolutely. Will it be in time to support individual users for a while? Do they have some grand Olympics "support" and marketing thing that will require most or all of the production pre-sales ramp up?

"Häh, that's funny, you guys still have have the A7R V, A9 and A1!"
Yeah, us "still" shooters have no interest in rangefinder style bodies.

Isn’t that exactly what is being said. The A7r5, a9 and a1 are all cameras focused on still shooters. Where’s the beef adding a ‘rangefinder” style camera to the options for Sony stills shooters. Surely there is a camera Sony makes that you can use… no?

It’s about the stretch in time for models that fit us Pros more than the C unit. These pushed our A1 and such out further in time. Not good for us

The a1 was released in January 2021 right? Hasn’t been even 3 years yet. That doesn’t seem too unreasonable. The a9 II though is definitely getting long in the tooth.
