Im seriously hoping the 61mpx A7c here gets the same treatment AF wise as the A7rV. Given the rumored specs but the features I need like anti flicker, Variable shutter and such I could go this route from the A7RV BUT BUT I need to see actual specs in full first. We got a bunch of garbage rumors if you ask me. I don't believe anything until it's real. Thats me though
The real surprise here is the 6700 has those feature sets so I would guess this would as well. Sure it has some limitations to it but if it's close to the A7RV than it will be a hot seller. Said that day 1 on the rumors. Sony just needs to load these up IMHO.
Not sure anyone noticed this on the original A7c there is no C1 custom function button but the new leaked image its there on the middle of camera on top. Look at this
Well not every manufacturer touted that as their focus for mirrorless. It was a big part of Sony's initial sell, so I get why they continue to focus there. I'm not sure Nikon & Canon, who were slow to move to this space, were pitching the move the same way.
I do love that Sony continues to focus on size, though I do feel like sometimes their units are too small.

Just did a quick google search for "Nikon small mirrorless", it seems the words "small, lightweight, powerful" are attached to Z30, Z50 and also Z6, Z7 but not their pro bodies like Z8, Z9.
So they do "tout" some aspects of mirrorless except when it's not convenient, whereas Sony fulfils these promises across all models.

Looks like August 29th is the real announcement date. Interestingly enough, Sony’s social tease says “A New Camera,” is coming, singular. Hmmmm…
The 7Cr image “proof” looks extremely fake. Odds are there is only the A7CII.
I have been too lazy to go back to the first page and count the yays and nays in this thread, but if the diversity of the opinions expressed in this thread is anything to go by, then further diversification of Sony's line-up with those 1 or 2 new a7c models might not be a bad thing.
Whether or not Andrea's sources are correct about two versus one camera(s) remains to be seen. Still, interesting how things always go with his rumors: A lot of people here hate the guy and/or his site, but his rumors often become points of discussion around here. I guess there is no such thing as bad publicity after all

I watched the Cantonese youtube clip of Alex Ng (from Hong Kong), the guy whose images were used by the rumor site, he explained, without going into details here, he was only able to receive the image of the "A7Cr" via fax, hence the fake looking B&W picture of the A7Cr floating around. We will find out soon. I just bought am A7RV for my upcoming trip, I will probably sell it after the trip and get an A7Cr a few months later if it has most of the main features of the A7RV.

I take it as "A new camera is coming" is singular because the A7CR is the new camera. The updated A7CII is not a new camera, but an update
While I’m a huge fan of the full size full frame bodies like the A1, A7RV, and A7IV, which I currently own, to use with the excellent GM lens family I also want a smaller camera for occasional travel and needed portability. That is why I own an A7C and recently tying out the A6700 and APS-C. Used Fuji along side my Canon DSLRs for many years before moving to Sony because of cameras like the X-E3.
That said I’m all in on an improved A7C II but not as sure of the A7CR. How many of the small lenses will really take advantage of the 61Mpixel sensor? Also I like the higher resolution EVF, dual card slots and attaching an L-bracket for critical work. Just a personal opinion of course. I don’t see putting a 50/1.2 GM or 135/1.8 GM or other larger lenses like a 70-200/2.8 GM II on a compact body. For my C body I’m more likely to use a Sigma I-Series Contemporary DG DN f/2 lens with it.
Key question for me will the new A7C II have all the functionality and capabilities of the A6700. I hope so but if not I’ll have to think about it as well.
Im looking at this a little differently . See if you all can follow my thinking
The A7Rv came out with everything new and better but what happened was Sony took pretty much all that A&rV functionality and put it in a 1400 dollar 6700. Why I bought it to be honest it even has the special feature sets I need like anti- flicker , variable shutter and test variable shutter and so on and on . Now let's say they push all the same into the A7CII and A7CR and all that magic outside maybe a few feature sets are in theses new rumor releases. Then I would say forget the 33mpx A7CII out of the gate as its not much better than a cheaper 6700 with same feature sets 26 vs 33 is nothing to write home about . But let's take that 61mpx A7Cr and maybe replace your A7RV if you can live with a reduced EVF ability but also can a smaller camera without the hump in it. I see this more as the main attraction by far than the 33mpx version. Most hobbyists are landscape shooters let's be honest and one of the easier roads to take in photography. Go sit under a tree and wait it out.
But most folks don't need the excellent viewfinder of the A7RV to do that type of work. I see this is the bigger possibility for folks. Sure some things will get left out like custom buttons , 2 card slots and such and this how Sony does things but if you see something that may work similar at lower price ranges then you have options.
Simple case the 6700 is short handed on custom function buttons than my A7RV but hear me out going to Sony lenses I just picked up 2 custom function buttons that I use . A AF/MF switch on lens and a focus hold button I can change to anything I want . Thats two custom buttons I picked up just by using Sony glass. Its stuff like this folks need to pay attention too
