I'm quite enjoying the results with Elnomaxim every time I take it out. I also feel that the ones that have tons of character wide open have a strong appeal for long term use. At the same time I want them to have usable results stopped down as well.

Thanks for those Elnomaxim shots, Juha, I hadn't even heard of that one!
Just for kicks, I put a 4-point star filter on my MS Optics Apoqualia 28/2 and used it for a few behind-the-band shots during a concert earlier this week:

A few weeks ago I purchased a used copy of MS-Optical Super-Triplet Perar 28/4 (#420 in beautiful condition) that showed up at Map Camera. My original #419 was my very first MS-Optical / MS-Optics lens (bought back in 2014) and it's not in good condition anymore, aperture blades that are exposed and in front of the glass are stuck wide open etc. Therefore I had not used my original in ages. I figured it was a good chance to get a properly working copy of this lens again and the serial number being so close to my original was intriguing.
All shots were taken at f8 or wide open at f4. I used CV VM-E close focus adapter II to get closer focusing than the native 0.8m.
The lens vignettes quite a lot, I didn't compensate for it at all in these samples. They were all exported through C1 Pro with a mild filmic preset applied that adds a bit of color enhancement (Fuji Astia simulation). I like it although I think my top favorite from all MS-Optics 28mm options is still 28/2 version II....Show more →
Interesting rendering for a f/4 lens. Thanks for sharing Juha.

Ahh…Strasbourg me manque.
Very nostalgic rendering from the Sonnetar.

It is a nostalgic city.
I quite like the lens so far, it could be a good middle ground between the Panchro and the Heliar for what I look for. It could just become my favorite lens, but I need some more testing.

The orange-and-teal look for cinema was abandoned years ago because it became a cliché, but one of the clubs where I like to take concert photos just decided to change their lighting...to orange and teal. So here are some "cinematic" photos taken with MS Optics lenses

I took a lot of photos lately with the Sonnetar, I might fill those servers with some corner to corner madness. I’m still in the phase where I’m gauging the lens, I sure do like it but still trying to see where it fits for me.
