I was planning on buying this to replace my full frame system (to get something smaller and more lightweight). But the shitty EVF ruins it for me, unfortunately. I guess I will have to take a second look at Fuji now.

Saw that brand new A7C's are on sale for $1,598...never mind the used market. Personally I'd go that route for a 2nd body to supplement my A1 instead. But get that there are upgrades the A6700 has that would benefit some better than an A7C.
Used A7C appear to be available between $1000 and $1200 here on FM. You might find one for even less but depends on its usage. I have one I use for travel or when forced to go light. Have purchased a number of lenses for it that are high quality but small. Use mostly GM lenses on my A1s and A7R5.
Was trying to figure out what capabilities the A6700 gotten that the A7C does not. Also wondering what it forecasts for the A7C II which is rumored for later this year.

I'm starting to think this may be more appealing- for me at least- than the A7C. A6700 with 10-20mm G and 70-350mm G..that's a two lens combo there that isn't quite matched in FF for compactness, features and performance.
Use FF for larger aperture primes. Nice well rounded system IMO.

I'm sure the AF still blows the R7 away though. Have you seen the recent YT vids and threads on how bad R7 AF is?
I'd rather have 11FPS in focus than 30FPS with maybe 2 in focus judging from what I've been hearing about the R7.
If this AF is similar to A7RV then this thing will be an AF machine.
I see it does have AI chip so that means AF will be stellar.
True about the R7 issues. Duade Paton's video generated a lot of comments regarding R7 AF problems with focus shifting and obtaining soft shots with even static subjects.
On another note...
Northrups a6700 review shows the in focus shots to be fairly identical compared to R7. The R7 yielded a noticeable amount of more sharp shots though with him running toward the camera with mech shutter given the higher frame rate. With static subject, A6700 hit the iris more frequently in his test better than R7 by 24%.
From what's been demonstrated on YT so far today (I've been watching most of the videos)...A6700 competes and bests R7 in some areas, remains more compact and of course...that lens selection.

The AI AF alone is enough for this camera to sell. Sony didn't need to do anything else and that's why they didn't.
For the intended market, consumers (not camera nerds), all the so called mediocre features are more than good enough, including the "slow" frame rate of 11 FPS.

I'm sure this is a nice camera, but it's still a bit of a sad thing that after Nikon all but ditching aps-c, also per Sony, the Nikon D500 aps-c days will not return in mirrorless.
Fuji still bringing it for APSC. The XF 200mm F/2 and X-H2S are examples of pro level APSC. No the AF isn't as brilliant as Sony but it's competent and good for most use cases. I thought Sony had a real opportunity to make some serious noise in the APS-C world. A stacked sensor would have been a serious attempt. This new camera is iterative at best. We've been on 11 fps for almost a decade now.

APPROXIMATELY 21MP. The difference between 350 and 400mm is not that big, which is why I didn't get the much heavier 100-400mm.
How I got this APPROXIMATION? I had to scale a 300mm shot to 66.7% to match a 200mm shot. 200 is 66.7% of 300mm. 350 is 87.5% of 400mm. 24mp x 87.5% = 21MP APPROXIMATELY.
If I understand the question, you want to use 350mm and get 600mm equivalent on a 24mp crop body.
To be precise it's 18.4MP. (5250x3500).
=350X1.5X(6000/?)=600
If you replace the ? with 5250, you can finish the formulae

“ Sony focuses on FF. They don't want their users to stay at APS-C ...”
This is because they may have figured the market dynamics of APSc cameras, which seems to be price sensitive. That may be the reason for them to not develop a high end body. Their most successful body was a6000 so that says something. Those who can shell out money for a high end APSc body may buy a FF body instead.

Im going to grab one, not in a big hurry but over the last couple years I could not even get a 6600 snd I do like the small back up cam. Im not shooting like I used to everyday but I need a couple things at least a cam to back me up and the A7RV plus sometimes I use a second shooter with me. The ZV-10 is really not the cam I want. I went through maybe even 3 A7C cams and I really liked them but not exactly the size and capabilities I wanted. Looking at this a little more its really a A7RV stripped down a little and honestly 1400 bucks is cheap , As a Pro I see enough in this to be very effective for me and I can hand it off to my assistant as well. Sometimes we are in big crowds so this may cut some liability of lost/stolen or get broken with my A7RV. Big plus im seeing now is a better travel cam for me as I can leave the A7RV home, that's the work cam and I want to protect that one. I also have lenses that would be workable the PZ 16-35/ Sigma 28/70 which looks to be a nice cheap lens and of course I have the Sony 70-200 Version II.
I will watch a few videos maybe to pick up on if I should use the EVF or just the back LCD. I don't know if that was improved and I still wonder about a A7C II version.
The AF smells a lot like the A7RV as far as ability, if its even close I will be happy. Ill start selling a few things, now is a good time as the last show I did I made some good money already and next month check is pretty good
From my seat I see it as a good backup for Pro work even though its really a hobbyist cam with some nice features and if used in the system at large it can play nice with our current gear.

Here was what you may have missed
Anti Flicker
Variable Shutter
Mechanical shutter
All tools for LED/ Flash with fluorescent and having a mechanical shutter will save you if the electronic shutter is not fast enough. That one we don't know yet
My guess the electronic readout speed maybe faster than the A7rV because its a smaller sensor size but regardless if you have those three you are at least working on a Pro level. Yea sync speed is only 1/160
There are a few little downsides but overall it looks better than the 6600 series
