From the reading up on the FX30, the a6700 is promising even if it is not a stacked sensor. I will wait for more information but am interested as a backup camera and video using the Sony 200-600 for wildlife.

Sensor: 26mp apprx same mpix as the A9. I get its a crop camera meaning more reach, but when you need to crop in because the target is way out there, I would not be happy
Thats why many A9 shooters migrated to the A1 or AR5 more mpix
Now if we are talking about 35mpix crop camera, that would be something I may give a look at.
Additionally I would need to see how a smaller body works in my big hands.

I use crop a lot for certain jobs more for reach as I need a 300mm
A1 is 21 mpx
A7R5 is 26mpx which right there is an advantage over a A9 series at 24mpx full but in crop it’s only 11mpx.

I think it's likely to be an A6400/A6600 brought current. Perhaps more the A6600 to retain IBIS and use the larger battery. A7Riv/A7Rv pixel density A74 similar functionality.
That doesn't mean I'm not curious about what might be possible with the stacked sensor used in the Fuji X-H2S.

Was looking at this, but the body style misses the boat for me.
I don't mind the compact size for the lower-end bodies (it's actually nice for light carry), but the top-end APS-C really needs a body design that handles better with larger lenses.
I have been using the APS-C cameras (NEX 5N, A6000, A6600) with FF lenses, including FE 70-300 G, FE 100-400 GM w/o any issues, just using a wrist strap. They have always handled very well with larger lenses. It's such a personal preference that the term "better" needs to be experienced.

I've owned the NEX-5N, NEX-5R, NEX-7 and A6300, and test-driven both the A6500 and A6600.
None of these handle well with larger lenses, and I'm talking about lenses that start smaller than the ones you list. I started having issues with 90-100mm macros and anything larger than that is problematic.
The grip is too small and too close to the lens barrel for a solid & reliable grip. You simply can't reliably use the camera as a handle when manipulating the zoom/focus controls on the lens, it doesn't provide either a solid enough grip or sufficient leverage. The A6500/6600 are the best of the lot (and with a vertical grip are pretty usable), but still handle quite a bit worse than the A7RIV does with the same lenses.

I do think this is very idiosyncratic and individual and that there is no "correct" size. I have been very happy using my Sony 100-400 GM on an A6400 for long periods of time. In general, I much prefer small camera bodies. This was initially my main reason for leaving Canon 10 or 11 years ago.

Wow, I did not know I had all those issues. :
I use a Minolta 100/4 Macro, an SEL 18-200. For many years I used a Nikon 300/4 ED with a dumb adaptor on my A6000. I have borrowed the Sony 90/2.8 Macro many times.

So given it's already a APSC camera at 26mpx which now my 70-200 would give me the 300mm I need at 26mpx. My A7rV in crop at 21mpx. So slight advantage not that I need it here but as a backup and sell the ZV=10 it maybe worth it. Maybe even as a rental as it should be cheap to do that. The ZV-10 I don't shoot with its mostly a complete shit hit the fan camera. This I could actually use.

The A7RV cropped is 26mp, so the same resolution in crop mode.
