George, I believe that's the most exciting HB image I've seen. It's the eye and wings on this one.
Wow thank you, much appreciated! Love my hummingbirds, been waiting for them since I got the Z9 (using silent mode) and new 400TC S, so far so good and it still early for them, should be here until October or later! 🤞

It is safe as long as we stay within the safari vehicle. We are allowed to enter into the tiger reserves/ national parks only on the safari vehicles managed by the government.

Just a few pictures this morning of two humming birds coming to the feeder. Really wanting a longer lens for birding, stuck with my 70-200 for the time being until the pre-order for the 400 f/4.5 and 1.4x Teleconverter. I'll just have to make due for the time being though! All pictures are cropped in

Yes, this has become an issue for me too. I am currently trialing Photo Mechanic to use for culling. It delivers very fast preview rendering and for this reason I may end up buying it.

Have been using the Nikon Z9 over a month using mostly the Z 100-400mm lens. Its been a combination of elation and disappointment so far, the elation is being able to compose image while holding focus, the disappointment has been grabbing focus in low light and amount of grain in low light. The low light grain may simply be the math of 46mb and the low light focusing may be using a non prime lens. Am used to using a D5 with 300mm 2.8 VRII or a 200mm f/2 and can get low grain images anytime up to 12,000 ISO while grabbing instant focus. Absolutely love the Z9 image quality and the the larger files for cropping. Have read the manual twice so far and expect it to be 2-6 months before really understanding this camera. My most recent test has been reducing the number of focus points by alternating as suggested in manual for quicker focus and photographing barn swallows to test that. Currently have back buttons focus set on 3D, the sub selecter toggle on wide area and the lens function button on single point.

Try FastRawViewer.
It's very fast, gives you a real RAW view (not embedded Jpeg) and is pretty cheap as well.
