I could be, given the right tools and a few DSLR shooters to test on. 😁
Lance, this is me and other lucky z9 shooters .. maybe I missed it, but how does the z9 grip, weight and EVF feel for extended shooting? Thanks in advance. 🙏🏼

I haven't done any extended shooting other than say an hour or so on and off. In that time, the camera always felt comfortable and not tiresome even with that extra weight. The EVF is superb. I thought the Z7/Z7II was excellent but this is just another level.

I’ve shot with the Z9 + 500mm PF for a couple of hours and the combo didn’t feel heavy. Quite comfortable actually, and I just hold the rig in my hand and walk, no strap.

I spent the better part of yesterday shooting with the 100-400S + 2xTC.
While I wasn't surprised by the results, I was surprised at how fast & easy to use the combo was. Having not used a zoom in several years, it was like a dream to be able to pull back and manage frame size - during a sequence. :-)
Nothing special in this set other than the fact that the Z9 was not bothered by the BG clutter - even @ F11 & a low SS because I was shooing static birds when these popped in. I know "they are ducks", but they came in quite fast & the Z9 grabbed & held focus from the 1st shot to the last. This is a few shots of about 25 in the set.

Lol. Why you have the horizon on when shooting birds in flight? and the grid lines.
I have a dedicated fn button to turn on/off virtual horizon when I’m doing landscape. Other than that, it’s a distraction.

That's good to know.
I was surprised to find that the Z9 w/ adapted 500PF is not THAT much shorter than the A1 with the 200-600 and only about 50 grams lighter.
Obviously that difference will disappear if/when Z versions of the PF lenses appear.

It feels great in my hand in the short 30mins at a time shooting with it. I used to shoot with D3 and D850 with grip so the Z9 body feel natural to me. The only thing that I need to get used to is the play button to review the image is now on the right hand side bottom vs. the top left. So I’m still hitting the top left button(now the “key” button) a lot when I want to review the image.
I’m not the qualified person to evaluate the EVF right now. I like it but I haven’t done any real burst and panning on fast moving subject. Still waiting for the 500mm PF to show up and go back to some birding. But my guess is that I’m so rusty with shooting birds that I’ll need many months to learn the camera. I do feel that this is the camera I won’t have much to complain about though. Just time to get out and shoot with it.

Thank you for the info. Yeah, that Image Review button thing also gets me every time
when switching between Nikon and Sony bodies. I think top left is perfect for it.
So you guys are good with the grip, weight etc and love the z9 so far. That's great to hear!!!

Can you reprogram the "key" button to be Playback?
I saw their post and wondered the same thing. Custom Setting f2 - change FN4-protect to playback in shooting mode. I don’t have a Z9 but that’s where I would look.
The customization steps are basically the same as the other Z bodies which I have. I have another post about solving this issue further down in this thread.

A few from this morning. Bird images are with Z9, 500pf and x1.4. So far so good, a lot to play witrh over the next several days but getting better already!
Juvenile Bald Eagle flyover
Juvenile Bald Eagle caught this small fish behind the reeds, got him coming out

On the juvenile bald eagle with the fish shot which AF focus area where you using? I'm still experimenting with which approach is best in settings like that, so curious what you were using. Thanks!

Nice shots! Hoping I get my Z9 this Jan or Feb. Ordered same day but not right after it went live, so it might be a while.... fingers crossed, nonetheless.

I think I can help save you from yourself. Read on: You can reprogram three other buttons to add image review via a button press on a Z6/Z7 (I don't know about the Z50 or Zac).
On my Z 7II (should be the same on the Z7 Gen 1) go to custom setting f2, you can change one of the front two FN body buttons to do playback (should work looking through the EVF) OR change the LN or LN2 button on your lens (if you're using a lens that has one or both) to Playback on a button press. Pick the most convenient one for you. You just need to "train your muscle memory" where that button is by feel as you look through the EVF without taking your eye away. All of these change are done in custom setting f2. Select the button you want to change, and then scroll to find playback (near the bottom of a long list).
EDIT: This will also work on some F mount lenses too. On my 500 PF if I set the Memory Recall button on the lens to AF-L and change f2 - LN to Playback on my Z& II, I can review the last image that I took (or more if I move around Image Playback using the body controller - all of this without taking my eye away form the EVF.
SECOND EDIT: This should work with the Z9 as well (albeit I do not own one).

After only using the camera for about an hour I believe it is going to be hard to go back my DSLR's. My first offering that was shot in jpg....thought I was in raw....glad it was just a "Commoner"
