I'm just getting started with the Z9 and have a ton to learn and it's gonna take a little time to "retrain my brain" on how to best achieve things. Shooting this camera really is a different experience when it comes to shooting.
Wifey & I got out to the lake for a bit this morning and I was able to click off some test shots - or I better said "acclimation shots". Nothing special, but some shots nonetheless.
This was the only shot that missed focus on the eye.

Really nice shots. Can't wait to try the eye af for wildlife. Eye af with tilt screen will make my life much easier to do low shot with my 600mm f4 lense 😀

For those NPS members who have already received their Z9, are you getting informed by NPS presumably by email that your Z9 is bring released to your retailer, or is the retailer contacting you? I know most of you have it set up so it is being shipped to you, but mine is supposed to show up at the store, and then I go pick it up. Just curious how anything is being communicated.

You should get an email saying your Z9 has been ship to the retailer you ordered from and it should take up to 10days.

Before I write my next post (a question), I will give you some feedback. I am NPS but have not gotten the Z9 yet, however, NPS sent me an email that my FTZII has been sent to the retailer I chose.
I expect the same for my Z9. So, you will get an email from NPS that your Z9 is being sent to the store you chose.

Thanks Rick, you're gonna love it!
If all goes well, I hope to get out with the 600 tomorrow.

I have been under the weather with a cold so, I haven't gone out anywhere and thus trying to test things from home. Luckily, a couple of King Parrots came by for a feed and our resident family of Magpies are are also here, 2 parents and 4 fledglings.
The 100-400 so far is proving to be stupid sharp and with superb overall IQ, the bokeh is excellent. As I said before, the AF is fast and sure footed.
Male King Parrot. I love these birds. They are so gentle and timid and beautiful as well. They generally keep in pairs or a pair and fledglings.
Went for my usual spotted owlet in a park not too far from where I live. Lighting was not ideal. I was going to go at 7am
but got call in to work for a little bit in the morning and did not make it to the park until 10am
Interestingly enough, Z9 initially had problem recognizing owl shape and kept focusing on the body only.
It did not help that the owlet initially was napping with its eyes closed. AF initially only focus on the body and eye AF sometimes picked up the spot on the body instead. However, after awhile, it started to pick up on the head and eyes but sometimes eye focus would picked up on the beak instead. However, after about 10 minutes, it was more consistantly picking up the eyes. I guess it took the camera awhile to sorted out owl shape. I noticed similar thing with pond heron where Z9 initially only picked up the body but after several shots, it started to pick up the head and eye more consistantly.
Pigeon and egret was no problem for Z9

Thanks all for sharing ! Received my Z9 Dec 22nd (perfect timing, my 50th birthday ! Lol), and tonight plan to look at some of the images I took. Have been mostly skiing, but got a few portraits of the kids as well as some fast sledding at night which was quite amazing as the Z9 perfectly tracked all the way through bursts of 50 images - will see what keepers there are knowing I was shooting between 2.000-10.000 ISO
My usual go-to for RAW editing is LR, so curious to know what peoples’ experience is with the Z9 profiles.
