According to figures bandied about by YouTubers, the high efficiency raw files are smaller than the raw files I get from the Z6. Of course, I don't think COne supports the files yet, but that's pretty impressive.

I have mine on 15 fps...thing can cap off 1000 plus images really quickly. I'm assuming 512gb should be enough, but we shoot very different things. So good luck on that one. I haven't found XQD card buffer to be that limiting, then again I'm kind of stuttery on on the firing. I don't hold it down for that long.

Remember, Thom Hogan got 97% hit rate on his Z9. If you’re not getting better than that, you’re holding it wrong.

Hogan said you can expect 80-90% of the images in focus when he was discussing bursts of bird-in-flight images with either A1 or Z9. I don't know where the 97% comes from, perhaps of all images, including other subjects that aren't as quick?

If you have any desire for one, just get on a preorder list now, you won't get billed till shipping.

And better to go through a smaller local shop than B&H, or you'll be waiting 4x as long.

Not that long. I would bet early fall. But this is a guess.

There are some for sale on the B&S board here at FM, and prices are continuing to come down. Especially if you would be paying tax for one at your local dealer, this may be a reasonable option for someone who would like to be shooting with it now rather than waiting a year.

I know everyone has a right to ask any price they want (don’t send me nasty socialist comments) but making a profit by selling a new release camera here on the B&S board at $1000 more than you paid just seems wrong to me. It goes against my sense of what FM is, a community of photographers helping each other. If it were me, and I ended up with a second body, I would return it so somebody else will be able to use it or sell it here at cost plus shipping and fees. But that is just me. As I said, folks will do what they want.

I wonder how many of these for sale so soon are NPS multiple orders with the original intent of scalping

You can only get priority delivery on one unit via NPS.

Then the phrase "priority delivery" is important here, anyone know how many a NPS member can order in total?

I am an NPS member, and I believe this is accessible to the public from Nikon's USA web site under NPS.

https://www.nikonpro.com/TermsAndConditions.aspx

"PRIORITY PURCHASE DELIVERY PROGRAM

For Equipment sold by Nikon to a Nikon Authorized Dealer and designated for Member’s purchase pursuant to Member’s request (which request is subject to no more than one (1) unit for any specific model of Equipment unless otherwise agreed to by Nikon in its sole discretion based on availability), Member understands and agrees that upon its purchase, the Dealer owns such Equipment and Nikon has no control over the Dealer’s resale of such Equipment, whether to Member or otherwise. Nikon can only recommend to the Dealer that such Equipment be reserved for the Member. Requesting that Nikon ship Equipment indicates Member’s representation to Nikon that the Equipment is for Member’s own use and is not being purchased with the intention of immediate resale. It is a violation of these Terms for Member to request this priority delivery of Equipment for purchase by any third party, whether from the Nikon Authorized Dealer or the Member, as the case may be."

As guidance to others, I pre-ordered my Z9 and FTZII on November 7th, from a well known Nikon Professional Dealer, and based on e-mails from NPS this past Tuesday, and dialogue with my dealer about timing and shipping, I expect to receive my unit the end of next week (1/21/2022). I received the FTZII last week.

Anybody, NPS or non-NPS, can order as many cameras as they want.

But as an NPS member, you will only get one camera early through the NPS program.

So, the phase “priority delivery” is not important. The only type of order you can place with NPS is “priority delivery” and again, it is limited to one unit.

I was pleased to hear that a friend back in Connecticut who ordered his Z9 end of October just got it yesterday overnighted. Nice deal. And he's NOT a NPS member. I suppose a few will sneak out here and there to non NPS members. Sure doesn't lean towards believing that nobody will get theirs till the summer at that rate. But we don't know if Nikon's run out of parts yet.

Heads up, I ordered a EN-EL18D from Samy’s for $199, it shipped already and looks like they still have them in stock.

Who said nobody will get their camera till summer? Please cite a reference.

You do understand the difference in ordering in late October (at launch) and ordering in late November ( a month after launch), right?

This is so frustrating, why do I bother trying to explain.

Right, I know everyone has a right to turn a profit. But it's frustrating, still.
I won't mention names, but someone I was in contact with online had 5 copies delivered already and he is selling them for 7850 each. He offered me one and said, "that's a good deal compared to eBay". Sure bud.
I'll wait for my preorder.

If something popped up around $6300, that's reasonable - covers 9% tax depending on where you live, plus PayPal fees of ~3%, plus $120 for shipping and insurance.

Another $1500 premium on top of that is a considerable markup.

He flat out said though, "I bought 5 so I could sell 4 and pay for my copy outright"

And he is (or did). Last I heard he only had one left to sell...

In the end, I guess we're all free to do the same thing? It's just not my kind of game

Can't put a price on principles and decency, IMO.

Quite a socialistic comment, plus hypocritical
Socialism is bad when it does not affect you & Capitalism is bad when it affects you 🤨

This is the new world
