Call around the Nikon Authorized List. I am now number 5 & 6 on a local/smaller store. It will likely take me a month to get a camera, but they're getting them and I know there are only a few people ahead of me.

This is interesting info from your dealer. We know that non-NPS allocations have already been made to some dealers (in very small quantities) even in the first shipment in December. Mike's Camera (seven stores in California) was one such dealer who received several non-NPS Z9’s last month alongside their NPS units. Yet other dealers have reportedly received zero non-NPS such as yours, and also my small/medium sized dealer in the west.
I’m in no rush. I do find it interesting to see how some dealers get a few while others nothing and am curious about how Nikon USA determines allocation - perhaps based on market size, or sales performance?

I ordered mine from Biggs Camera in Charlotte. They are the only NPD dealer in the state (there are 4-5 other NID dealers). I've purchased my 500PF, D500, 200-500, 105 macro and some other items from them in the past 2 years.
I was #2 on the preorder list.
Between 10/28 and mid-Dec, they received about 20 orders for the Z9. By that time, there were 5 NPS that got bumped in front of me. On their first shipment, I believe they were able to take care of 4 NPS orders and the 1 non-NPS member in front of me got his body.
They got just a single body last week, that was allocated to an NPS member.
On Wednesday of last week, I was told "that's it for right now" and they had no additional information.
On Thursday morning I received a text from them "guess what you're going to have in your hands next week?"
So...expecting to have mine (non-NPS) hopefully by Wednesday or so.

I got myself on the list with Biggs after seeing your message. I think I'm 15th, so probably still a long wait but I'm not in a big rush. They are close, so I figure I won't have to wait long for shipping.

Did some street stuff with it (sorry I'm not a 100% birder) and I like it. Just need to go home and edit these and I'll upload them. It's a lot more responsive than my Z6II is.

Yours is probably shipping straight from the warehouse. I picked up from the store itself and my sales guy told me they only got four of them in the store. CKrueger wrote:

Well, I lucked out. Today my dealer called to say one of their NPS customers cancelled his order so they are shipping my Z9 today. So far they have not received any units for non-NPS.
