All I can say is ... I am glad many of us here finally get to shoot with a MILC that can hold its own with the best. Looking forward to seeing how you guys use the z9 and the nice assortment of f and z lenses currently out there. And selfishly, I would like Arbitrage to get one soon because I would like to see a good comparison between the a1 and z9, for birds, especially BIF.
Whether I get it or not does not bother me much at this time, as I now have 3 Sony lenses and only 1 Nikon lens. But once the 800 PF or 200-600 come out, I hope I can buy a z9 and enjoy it too.

I largely agree with your post.
You're missing a group. And *to your credit*, this is *not* a group you are in.
It is the non-NPS people who insist on criticizing the protocol that Nikon has, for getting Z9's to ALL people in the fastest, most equitable way they know.
No matter what Nikon does, there are always a few who are going to criticize Nikon, because they did not get theirs yet.
The notion that there will be a bunch of NPS people in the 3rd group, who will bump off non-NPS people, is conjecture. I do suspect we will see a small amount of this.

I went to WTB thread and put up looking for a Z9. I guess sellers are looking to buy a house.... I'm sure many non NPS with a lot invested with Nikon equipment ordered as soon as they could, I as one.. it's really sad whats going on !

The improvement is for raw +jpg basic or jpg fine + jpg basic. Matt tested with raw + jpg fine for which there is no claim of improvement in the firmware update description.

Oops, yeah you're right, I forgot that piece. In reality though like he mentioned who would buy a $6k camera and set it to the lowest quality settings for a longer burst? We don't really live in the era of newspapers anymore where you can get away with low quality snapshots.

I still don't get why they can't run a backup operation in the background when the camera idles instead of needing to IMMEDIATELY write to both cards. Makes no sense at all to me.

No, I preordered 800PF with my dealer on Dec 15 after NIKON announced it. Don't make up the Z8 story by yourself.

I think the reason people think it's strange is because you don't really take pre-orders for a development announcement. But I see no issue with a dealer doing so, as long as they aren't taking any money from you. Right now it's just a name on a sheet of paper (or in the computer) to keep a customer happy.

I just got another “still backordered!” email from Adorama. I last ;and only) time I received one of these was immediately prior to the first shipments going out.
SPECULATION: I’m guessing this means Adorama just got another batch of Z9’s, but I’m not one of the lucky ones?

Again, phantom preorder list your dealer is doing. You don’t even know the price, the weight. How can anyone say they must have it so I’m gonna put my name on it. I do hope you get your Z9 soon and the PF and whatever you want.
But just know that waiting at a terminal gate before any plane even assigned to it will not get you the right to board first. You can wait and do whatever to please yourself but when it’s time to board, the attendant will call the elite and premiere members to board first.

Chatted with B&H 1 final time and was told
"We don't have any shipments coming in this week or next week, I'm afraid. We don't have an estimate for when Nikon will be shipping more".
So I cancelled the order. Will probably regret it when I see awesome photos posted by some of you guys, but
for now, I am going to focus on 2 Sony lenses I've been holding off on buying, waiting for the z9.
Once the 800PF or 200-600 is out, I hope to re-board the Nikon train.
You guys are all awesome and if I rubbed any of you wrong in any way, I apologize.

When did you order? Date and time? Are you NPS? I did not get that email so fingers crossed mine will be coming…..
