As of now, z 24-70mm f/2.8, z 70-200mm f/2.8, z 105mm f/2.8 MC. I may rent a 600 f/4 later if eagles show up. Oh so you have both the new z lenses coming? That is awesome ... will be a wonderful combo (24-120 & 100-400). What a Christmas for Nikon users!

You should get a notice when NPS ships to the store. But, I have also had stuff appear at the store and never received an NPS notice. The store is not legally obligated to hold the camera for you. But I am sure they will as I bet that doing otherwise would really upset Nikon and perhaps get them booted from the NPS program, especially if it were deliberate.

I alert my local camera store that I placed order with NPS with that camera store named as supplier and then I get a call from the camera store telling me once the camera has arrived to the store, It arrives to the store with my name on it.

I have always got an email from NPS stating that my order has shipped to the store. Normally it arrives at the store the next day and they call for credit card number etc then ship it out to me that same day.
Had a hurricane one year when the 500pf came and was evacuated and I had the store (Allens Camera) ship it to my friend Scott who owns LensCoat so he could make the covers. He then shipped it to me a day or two later but most of the time when the store ships it I get it the next day or day after if I remember.

Thanks, I think I'll be checking my email a lot next Tuesday and Wednesday and hit my favorite eagle spot as soon as I get it and see how it handles the birds. Hopefully next week we've got some happy folks out there shooting with it and it's known how many were sent out. I'd hope if they couldn't make NPS orders they'd let us know.

I have not had the experience, however this is what NPS told me via email a couple weeks ago... I'm however not holding my breath for it to be so simple.
"We have placed your NPS priority delivery request for the Z 9 camera body with **** Camera in queue and will email you once your item ships to your dealer
This of course would indicate that some NPS members should be getting said emails on the 14th at the latest... Sooo...back to not holding my breath 😂

Not having to deal with NPS but I just spoke to a customer service rep at B&H once more just to see if there was any inside clue of information at this time. As I expected there isn't. The final conclusion was that I can call them Wednesday the 15th in the early afternoon and he said they will likely have a good idea if I will have my setup shipped or it's not going to happen. He did happen to leak that according to his information they have 3000 camera bodies requested from Nikon. First we all pretty much KNOW there's no way they are going to get 3000 bodies out of Nikon right off the get go. 2nd there is a pretty good chance there are way over 1000 pre orders in their system for the body alone. My pre order was about 1 week after the pre order beginning, so as he said they could get hundreds per day. It's all pretty messy for a person such as myself as I'm not NPS so that really puts me behind the 8 ball. I suspect nearly all dealers can not give you any further information that is accurate, unless of course the day before the 15th they get confirmation of the order emails and how many are coming and where you might fit in. Good luck......it's going to take more than that for me but I'm getting myself emotionally prepared. He threw me one bone that they are hanging onto a 24-70 f2.8S for me to complete my order. Now if that 100-400S would come in at the same time I'd be in like flint........yeah that will happen.

B&H is great, but in terms of knowing your place on line, it is not going to happen. They are too large for that. Small dealers will tell you when you sign up where you are on the list. They just check their clipboard, or if they are fancy, their excel sheet, and let you know how many folks are in front of you. This has been the case for a long time.
But the good news is, wherever you ordered from, with enough time, everyone will get their Z9.

That's kind of what I was saying. Those of us who don't get them get to watch the unfolding events of those that DO. They will likely give some tips on what they discover along the way as well. I'm especially interested to see how many applaud how amazing the camera is vs. those that say it wasn't all what they expected. In the past the expectations were generally quite hyped beyond the reality of actually shooting with it. That's what I'm looking forward to seeing revealed.

I did ask the CS rep about what my chances were for that lens as I ordered it with the Z9. He said it's up in the air if they will also come in on the 15th. It's not as assured as the Z9 bodies according to his information. Possible there may be a very slight delay.

not to worry. I'm not suicidal over this fiasco. I was worse off mentally a few weeks ago. Now as things close in I'm getting a bit more conciliatory about a potential wait. I've learned from past experiences that sometimes the wait is more exciting than the actual delivery. Not every time however. I do feel the Z9 is in an exceptional position regarding moving the tech forward more so than any cameras prior. One of the primary reason I'm so stoked about it potentially being as good as advertised is the concept of no wear and tear due to the shutter. That alone is pretty exciting. The stutter free viewfinder is #2 on my excitement list. Then of course just having that yummy full pro body in my hands with the tons of immediate access buttons is something I miss from pro bodies I've owned before. Can't wait...er uh yeah I guess I have to.

New word from nikonrumors.com:
“Nikon is intending to fill all of the day 1 NPS Z9 orders before the end of the year. Not sure if this will happen, but that is the current Nikon plan.
Nikon does NOT prioritize one level of NPS over another, so as long as you are NPS, they treat you the same.
Whatever “shipping” day that Nikon announces (and they are still planning it before the end of this year), it means that THAT is the day they will have all the cameras to the stores. That date is NOT the date that the cameras will ship to the stores.
Lastly, Nikon will not be sending any “open” (meaning available to sell to anyone) Z9 cameras to any stores until all NPS orders are filled (I presume they mean day 1 NPS, but he didn’t know for sure).”
