So far from what I have followed we have one FM member in Australia picking his Z9 up on 12/24 (NPS) and another on or near same date in Thailand. We should see some US NPS folks getting notification soon.

My local dealer was told by Nikon they aren’t getting a single Z9. They had to inform the preorder list of the news. It seems Nikon is prioritizing the largest dealers.

Wow! Well from what we have heard from multiple people, this first allotment is very small, but zero is pretty sad. By any chance was it Midwest Photo? I would sure hope they were getting at least a couple.

Southeastern Camera in Raleigh-Durham NC. Good guess, I moved from Columbus not too long ago.

At least looking at their website (Southeastern Camera), it doesn't seem like Nikon is feature prominently (actually looks like Leica and Olympus get top billing), so hopefully they're the smallest of the small when it comes to Nikon dealership.
There goes the "internet rumor" that every store will get at least one.

That's a bummer, hopefully things change. I assume NPS is a separate deal though, so if anyone at your local dealer was NPS, they would still get it shipped there and be in good shape. I hope.

I'm almost laughing. I was the naysayer last week and now it's everybody else Of all the posts I can read there isn't ONE absolute fact being stated. NOBODY knows for certain the status of orders shipped or to be shipped. I've finally chilled out and called 2 other smaller dealers and got on their list, one in the 80's and another I'm #21. Sure they may not get them in by the dozen or half dozen, but it's been stated before and was indeed the habit of Nikon in the past to send "some" to each dealer, NOT just the big one's. Based on what B&H told me having pre ordered on the 5th day of release I could probably expect it between June and September. I think my chances with the smaller guys is MUCH better based on all my past order experience. I know I mentioned last year I happened to order a R5 from B&H and 2 months later not a peep. Called Competitive Camera and got it the next day. So there is hope for the smaller dealers assuming their pre orders aren't in the 100+ range.

This is just not true. I am pretty sure my post is an absolute fact:

Like every other highly anticipated launch:
Per-Orders > 100 x Number Available at Launch
All will equal out over 4-6 months.
This is a little awkward and I'm terribly sorry to be the one who has to break this to you but you've just stated an "absolute fact" and not provided any proof. It looks a lot more like you've made a guess. From what I understand this warrants the arrival of the Spanish Inquisition
We don't know the number of pre-orders. We don't know the number that will be available at launch. If I were to have a guess I would say the number of around 35k pre-orders thrown around doesn't seem terribly far fetched. If we take that as a base then they would need to only have 350 available at launch globally to make your absolute fact wrong. That's around 2 per country and doesn't seem terribly impossible to me. If they've got 2 months of production at 3500 a month (again rumours) ready to go then that's 7000 spread between those countries. Still only 40 per country on average. They'd only need to have 5% of that number available at launch to discredit your absolute fact.

I've got news for him. He doesn't work for Nikon, nor does he know the people responsible for arrangements of the shipments of product to the dealer network. Those are the ONLY people who truly know the FACTS! So, I'll go with what I said that I'm fairly confident NPS folks will be handled by January and then the flow to the rest of us will begin. We can't say at what rate until we start seeing documented evidence of deliveries occurring to large and small dealer networks. I'd guess probably by mid-February we'll have a good idea what to expect regarding our ability to land a Z9 and some of those new lenses.

Check your math. And then check your sense of humor. Of course what I wrote is not fact. How many times on this thread have I said we know nothing.
