With the 1.4 TC it does everything the 100-400 does under most circumstances. On my A1 with crop mode it is basically a 392mm f/4 lens with superb IQ. This makes it a fantastic long travel lens.

I am considering the 70-200 as a long travel lens, as the wife and I are going to Thailand again this summer for 2 months. I really do not want to lug the 100-400mm along, as I only need 300 to 400mm for a few days while photographing elephants in a Nat'l Park. Whereas with the 70-200, I could it use every day. With my A7RIV the 70-200 becomes a 420mm with 1.4x TC and crop mode, and that is more than enough reach.
