p.16 #5 · Tamron 35-150mm F/2-2.8 Di III VXD Image Thread
Managed to get a copy of this lens last week using the multisite "Notify me when in stock" technique someone mentioned in the "Tamron 35-150 in stock anywhere?" thread here, so thought I'd share some photos taken with it here also. Have used it for a week and am in love with it, aside from its not terribly attractive flares. Had seen online that it wasn't parfocal, but mine seems to be perfectly parfocal when switched to Manual mode, had some fun doing Barry Lyndon-style slow zooms for video as a test lol

nice shots. lens def looks super sharp. great contrast with the buildings
Thank you! I like the versatility of the lens and the image quality when using the lens wide-open. I was surprised myself that the photo of the tall wedge-shaped building (above) taken at 35 mm f/2.0 looks as if it had been taken with the aperture closed to f/8.
In a recent thread on this forum several prime users said that shooting with zooms makes them feel lazy. Tamron 35-150 f/2.0-2.8 is a zoom that is anything but lazy; I find it highly motivating, almost "contagious." My main camera body (A1) is now occupied by the 200-600 lens; thus, I have the Tamron on the older "lowly" A7III. As a result, I think I have been using the A7III more than the A1 lately - no doubt because of the Tamron.

It really is a truly remarkable lens and it is pretty much glued onto my A1 (along with 16-35GM on A7rIII). It really is the swiss pocket knife of zoom lenses. I would also agree with your observation about it being motivating and contagious

Ketang, wonderful pictures. Keep them coming!
Your pictures were the final impetus for me to buy the lens as well.
And I am really excited, what a great lens. My copy (first copy!) can keep up with the Voigtlander APO at 35mm (except for the very edges, but more even sharpness), at 45mm it is sharper than the Sigma 45mm f2.8, at 85mm it is sharper than my 85mm GM, between 100-150mm as good as the 100-400mm GM. I find it incredible how even the sharpness is, I have rarely found anything like this with zooms (and never found such a good 70-180mm). A perfect lens for everything.
Depending on the focal length and aperture, the images also sometimes have a good 3D effect.
I have dispensed with further tests such as centering, among other things, because the lens is so good (test pictures + real world usegae) that I will keep it anyway.
Great pictures again!!! Fabulous work.
May I ask whether you used a flash for the last two portraits? I'm thinking about integrating flash photography into my process. Your pictures, if a flash was being used, could finally drive my decision as well But probably it‘s natural light only.
