Has anyone been able to complete the lens firmware version 5 update? The Tamron Lens Utility gives me a "lens connection failed" message every time.
No issues here, installed very quickly. I opted to install it off the body.
Not sure I notice any difference when zooming in and out, in my Livingroom anyway lol. It still has a pretty tough time, but maybe tracking will help it. Off to find my cats.
Edit: Update, I notice zero difference, if anything it feels worse haha. Not even rack zooming, a mild zoom in and out, can't handle it. Every other shot in focus. Tried playing with various tracking methods.
Seems to work a little better with tracking off, and expanded spot. S, M, or L spot doesn't work nearly as well as expanded spot for me.

Thanks for the feedback, @BigBabyMoses06! For you, sadly it seems the AF enhancements were marginal at best? I just upgraded to version 5 last night but didn't really put it to it's paces.

Same experience for me - as @BigBabyMoses06 . I did the update and the focus while zooming with tracking does not seem any improved. Interestingly, the best Tamron zoom I have in this regard is the 28-200mm with it's old school RXD motors

sad to say after 2.5 years of heavy use, this lens finally got hurt, and have to send it in for repair. i mad a mistake, and left a camera on a tripod witht his lens on it while shooting some food, unattended for like 2 min, and someone knocked it over, it landed on its side and now the aperture is stuck.
Anyone have any experience with tamron service for repair? any insight of how long it will take to repair and how much this will cost? thanks!

Unfortunately that is correct. I haven't done any serious shooting to test it yet but in my kitchen, I noticed no notable improvement.

Question.. I wanted to post some pictures in here.. I was wondering if we are supposed to use any specific sites to post the pictures or can we self host? Also are we supposed to apply some sort of copyright? Like I see when you hover over the pictures it says copyrights on them. Is there like an FAQ that explains this a bit? I didn't want to mess up and do something wrong.

You can upload your images to any hosting site and share the link here. As long as you have a direct URL to the image file, it will display correctly. If you purchase a B&S membership on the site, you'll be able to upload and store images directly on the site, eliminating the need to use an external hosting service.
When you link to an image, the site automatically adds a copyright message within the image tag. If you'd prefer to avoid this, simply paste the direct link in your post, and the image will appear without any frames or copyright notices (See example below).

These are all from a Sony A1 with no edits but cropping as the lens does have it's limitations on zoom. The A1 though gives a lot of flexibility. I'd also just say I'm not a professional and I'm not always great a composition.

Just received this lens over the weekend. It was a little warm so the dogs weren't running around too much as I wanted to get a feel for the AF as they came towards me, but alas... they were just hanging out in the grass!

During our recent trip in Sabi Sands in South Africa, I had my Tamron 35-150mm mounted on my A7RV. And given that one can get fairly close to wildlife in Sabi Sands, it sure got a lot of use. Here are some of our elephant shots from that trip. The first one was taken by my wife...

Super tight crops at 150mm.A7RV. Basically sitting a few feet away from the feeder. LR-Denoise and sharpened.
Still enjoying this lens. Not related to the images above, but I find you have to be extra careful with this lens with exposing for bright whites. They can give off a nasty glow if over exposed even a little. Usually I see it in white clothing on the edges. Maybe just me.
