Yep, that's Karachi!
Nice! My hometown..... though haven't been back there in ages.
Is it safe to flaunt around such expensive gear on the street now? I remember back in the days, my cousins used to get their mobiles snatched on regular basis.

Great to hear you're from Karachi, my wife is from there and I've been 3 times now.
The mobile chor are still a threat/source of memes but on my trips I've found that the danger with them is more when you are in transit to the location. I've done a lot of shooting in the markets and I think it attracts so much attention that it's not ideal for a thief to grab it and get out. Of course I could go back again next year and be proven wrong.

My previous photos from Karachi are at the link below and I'll be posting the new ones from earlier this year bit by bit and mostly on this thread. https://www.ketangajria.com/SouthAsia/Karachiites/...Show more →
Last time I went there was in 2008, so it's been a while.
Yes, transit is definitely more dangerous as people usually get mugged at the traffic signals. But people also follow you around if they see that you are carrying expensive stuff or cash.
Those pictures are AMAZING. What processing have you done on them? They looks 3D with great pop and colors.

Thank you! That's a long time away from a hometown, I hope you have the chance to go back. Generally security is better than it was post-Musharraf, at least from what others tell me.
For the photos, I start in ACR and choose from a series of profiles. I shot most of the ones here with the A7 IV for which I only had the standard Adobe profiles at the time of capture (late January). As such, I am sometimes using Adobe Color and sometimes using the Color Fidelity / Huelight profiles depending on what works best with the edits I did while on the road. From there I like to use a few plug ins: Alienskin Exposure, Nik Collection, and Luminar AI. I guess the pop is a combination of the lens and what I'm doing with edits to contrast and colors. Thanks again.

Tastfel post-processing and the colors are drop-dead gorgeous.
The "Sony colors" nonsense can simply be put to rest.
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much. Yes, I also shoot Canon and it's less Canon vs. Sony at this stage with all the Sony improvements and more Adobe profiles vs. Color Fidelity vs. Cobalt. There are pretty big differences by profile but I always find one that works.

I have to say this lens is really quite something. The IQ and handling are really superb. The only downside is it's weight but that is unavoidable given it's f2/2.8 aperture and something I am prepared to live with. Unless I want to go light this along with the 16-35GM is all I need

Finally back in the States and had a minute to HDR merge and pano stitch our first sunset in El Chalten. We were so exhausted from the initial travel that we only had time to rush up to the closest pull off on the road, but for anyone considering going to Argentina, I absolutely recommend it. Such an amazing place.
