Yes the rolling shutter will be very similar to your current camera.
Sensor readout seems to have an affect on AF because the faster readouts on the A9 and A1 allow for 3-6x more AF calculations per second. AFAIK, all Sony A7 cameras do 20 AF calculations per second. A9 does 60 and A1 does 120.
There will likely be "blackout free" in a way at 10FPS...but this is "fake" in that it is frame insertion playing at 10FPS...doesn't matter if the refresh is 120Hz. At lower FPS the EVF will show blackout.
This will be nowhere close to the A9/A1/R3/Z9 type of experience with true live feed pumped into the EVF while firing at high speed.
It’s actually about adjusting shutter speeds in 1/3 stops for LED lighting to not get banding in your images. For stage work they moved on to LED lights as there overall better with power , heat and costs. But our issue with electronic shutters is it causes frequency banding with black lines. If you adjust the shutter to get in between the frequency. For me shooting runway type work i can use electronic shutter and save life on my camera from not using a mechnical shutter. If your doing about 40k in shots thats a big deal.
I smell a big A1 FW update coming in the next little while. A number of little new features in this A7IV like Animal Eye-AF in video, customizable EC dial and FW update via SD card (to name a few I've stumbled on so far) seem to be things they could add to the A1 to keep us happy campers
Like the EC dial to have new options. It save a custom button. I was thinking maybe White Balance might be a good one. Shooting with the new Expess cards i like also. I dont shoot 10fps that one is fine for me. So not a limitation

Pretty sure the 800+ RAW+JPEG was uncompressed RAW, which means it's at ~5fps, which a CFE-A card should be able to do until it fills.

Moreover, it says in the specifications that the body material is magnesium alloy while this isn't mentioned for the A7 iii. It could be that A7 iii is only partially made of metal. So that;s another upgrade. Moreover, if the body is modeled after A7s iii (and not after A7 iii), I am guessing the weather sealing is must have been improved as well.
PS. At 2:19, Mark Galer states similar thing about the weather sealing of the new camera and that he is impressed by it.
PS. It is now possible to have the shutter curtain closed when the camera is off meaning having to deal with much less dust on the sensor. Obviously, competition is working for us making Sony adding this feature to their cameras because Canon has it..

Sony is not going to put a stacked sensor in a camera in this class until the flagships have transitioned to Global Shutters. It's a business decision, not a technical one
Sony users are to some extent used to Sony have a big lead in many mirrorless based technologies. Now that the others are maturing their mirrorless offers and catching up the gap will be shrinking considerably in each category of camera, soon to include stacked sensor cameras. But there is a feature with the 2x crop in camera that maybe useful and a 200 in crop 1.4 is 300 but the 2x in camera crop is 400mm. That maybe a powerful tool but lets make sure i understood that correctly and how effective it really is with 33mpx sensors. From my seat there is a huge jump from the A7III and none of it is really fluff but some solid improvements. I dont shoot video so rolling shutter is not a big deal . It’s not a A1 or A9II but its got a lot of feature sets that rival them.

Sorry, but how does 20mp suck but 24mp, which is BARELY anything over 20mp in real-world side by side, is perfectly fine as in the A9, A9ii, and A7iii?
Sure for some the higher res of the A7 IV will be a better option over the R6 but for others, it could be the opposite in terms of what features each camera offers. I just feel that to just say "2005" 20MP is not a fair statement.
I am not saying one camera is clearly better than the other for everyone..it is a matter of picking the one that has the features that more closely matches our needs of course.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining on the A74 camera, I just had some neutral observations regarding Mark as a reviewer/Sony ambassador, even if I do think his reviews are among the most comprehensive but he really stands out as an educator, his recommendation for settings and set-ups, etc. I give him a solid 4 stars :-)
Regarding the A74 - too early to tell since I haven't handled it and there are a couple of things I wished they would have done differently, but overall it looks like one of the best, if not the best, enthusiast/pro-entry-level camera on the market.

And please add the instant webcam feature - I'd would so enjoy having a $6,500 webcam that is plug and play! :-)
I hated it with a passion especially when I was shooting in the dark and hadn't noticed the ev had been pushed to +1. When the riv came out I was happy they placed a lock on. Never unlocked it since. I'm happy with the move as well but now I'm lost as to what exactly I'd use it for. I'd say iso but I do that on the rear wheel already.

thought about buying the A7R3V2 or A7R4V2 but the A7IV 33MP gives me 2x crop to 4K for viewing on my 2020 27" iMac or 2020 65" LG OLED.
All kinds of minor improvements over the A7R3/4 like the Anti-Dust Function, ability to save ALL camera settings to SD, customizable wheels, articulating screen, etc.
the Sony ecosystem is amazing .. lots of body and lens choices for a myriad of needs and price points.
I agree re: Mark Galer videos ... lots of analytically presented facts, access to full-size images and some superlatives .. though I have seen videos (and read comments on his Patreon site)where Mark does not offer glowing remarks on some Sony products. His e-books are great and I have already started to read the draft A7IV book.

ISO for me. The less I have to interact with the multi-wheel, the happier I'll be.
