IN terms of the Kase filters---- do the folks who have this system... use the gasket? It says to use for long exposures.. but what is their definition of long? Are they talking about 2 to 5 seconds or 30 seconds or longer Adding the gasket seems a little more time consuming and wondering how much of a difference it makes

I saw a review where the person said they were trying it for 30 seconds and then without and there was no difference except that if not placed exactly right, the edge of the cotton would show on the edge of the image so they no longer use it.

Yes, you can order just the rear filter holder. As far as I can tell, it’s the same exact part as the 12-24 GM rear holder, they just list it as a different part number. When I ordered similar rear holders from them for the canon 11-24 and 8-15 fisheye, the part I received was identical, even though they were selected from two different options.

I wonder if Haida will come out with an option to just purchase the rear lens filter holder without the 4 filters for those of us who already have a Haida rear lens filter set for a different lens.
I have the Haida filter set and rear lens filter holder for the Sony 12-24. I don't want two sets of filters when I really only need the rear lens filter holder for the 14GM lens.

OK Good to know because I decided early on that was a show stopper for me.. but if you don't really need it.. I like it better than lens specific filters.. Might need to have. two cameras now-- one with and one without. the filter when shooting especially near sunrise or sunset over the sea where the light is changing rapidly

Im considering this or the 20 1.8 from Sony. The 14mm would turn in to a 21mm in aps-c mode, meaning it covers the 20mm focal length as well.
Other lenses I currently own: 35gm, 40CV, Zony 55 1.8, 65CV Batis 85 and Sigma 24-70. Looking for a new wide angle after selling the Batis 18.
Keep in mind a 14 needs a bit more babying and special care since the filters go in back.

I ordered a set yesterday
I ordered a set yesterday and had it the same day. Used it on a daily hike yesterday late afternoon and evening with a 1.2 40mm. I am going to process the images now to see how they came out. With a fast lens, for me, having autofocus is so much better but my 40 is manual. I do have some other fast lenses that are auto focus.
My question and I asked Kase US, if they work with the Alpha 1 but they didn't know and will get back with me.

On the B&H site if you scroll down to the Compatibility box it shows all the Sony Cameras that work with the Kase filters and they list the Alpha 1. I'm ordering them for my Alpha 1 and A7R4.

Great, thanks. I looked yesterday an didn't see the A1.
So according to B&H etc., the 14 should start shipping day after tomorrow. ?

I sure hope so! Big project starts in less than 3 weeks and I reallllllly want this for it. 12-24 GM will do in a pinch but Astro and video are a big part of it and a fast UWA prime with good AF and low focus breathing would really be better.

I found a video showing the filter being installed on the a7siii.... it all looks the same as the a1. I'm going to order the light pollution filter and very very very carefully test it out.

I don't see the need to use a 'pick' to remove the filter as shown in the video. I just use my nail and it's easy to mount and unmount it. I make sure with camera in a ~90 degree angle to avoid any dust from falling in the sensor. It's a good idea to check there is no dust on the back of the filter before inserting it.
I really love this solution. Their "UV clip-on" works great when changing lenses in dusty/beach/moisty locations.
The light pollution filter looks good too. I will try that one next.

Fred have you fitted it on the a1?

I bought the night filter yesterday and look forward to trying it tomorrow. Have you noticed any real degradation of image quality with the UV in place? I really like this filter solution, just wish there could be a polarizer. Guess there could be, just rotate the camera! lol
The video is nice but then part of the instructions are in another language.

All the Kase filters (clip-ons or drop-ins) are 0.3m in thickness so the only degradation will be a slight "induced" field curvature. It's similar to using a lens in a different sensor stack thickness but to a much lesser degree. So, that could be an issue having the UV filter installed all the time.
Having said that, with the Kase, this ill-effect is barely noticeable at 100% magnification even with ultra wide lenses (14-21mm) at f/2.8 and it goes completely away at f/4. In wide, normal and telephoto, any induced field curvature is not even detectable when shooting at f/2.8.
It's worth mentioning that I only tested the Kase 0.3m filters on the Sigma and Sony ultra wide zooms and they are f/2.8. The new FE 14mm opens up to f/1.8 and therefore the induced field curvature may be more noticeable wide open.

The only review I saw on B&H said it was a little bit loose on the a7siii and could fall out when the lens is removed but otherwise worked well, so something to watch out for.
