And its only April 2021
Okay, Sony took a very strange left turn IMO, with the new A7rIII and A7rIV -e- hardware upgrades but the new Sony lens rollout has been very interesting/attention grabbing lately and will for sure entice a lot of people to spend on these new lenses. I hope Sony can keep this new lens rollout pace throughout 2021. I think we might have the very aggressive and impressive Canon RF lens rollout to thank for pushing Sony to come out with these great new lenses sooner rather than later, again just my opinion and time will tell. For now
Hopefully there are a few special GM portrait lenses on the Sony near horizon too.

It looks like a middleweight. Weight is relative here, the CV 15/4.5 - around three stops slower - is 300 grams. From the handfilling images this one looks like 450 grams, similar to the emerging standard of the GMs 24mm and 35mm.
As they should, Sony is out front with such a fast ultra wide angle. They will have this niche all to themselves in practical terms, and the optical quality will be very high, surprisingly so. Form counts in this issue, and their's is great.

I just hope someone can come up with a front filter workaround/alternative that maintains its smaller size. Something like what others on this forum found for the 12-24 with fitting a filter into the lens hood (though it only works up to 15mm or so)

The market is just too small to be pressured to release them quickly. Additionally they are quite expensive and heavier than comparable standard lenses. Look at Nikon's new TS,
How much market is there for 10 different types of 35mm. Or this 14mm f1.8? Expensive, maybe for some but people are ready to spend money for $6500 A1, isn't it?

That is a question Sony has hired pros for to get an answer to. And I am sure, they have a better idea about this than the average Joe here in the forum.
35mm is the bread and butter lens for a huge group of people, much much bigger than the TS-crowd, that I am sure of.
Small lightweight and fast landscape lenses - I am sure quite a few want that, too. Now with high MP cameras I don't see TS to be that important anymore. BastianK had a nice comment about that in an other thread, where you commented, too.
I have the TS24II from Canon and don't see any reason to use it over the 16-35GM or 20G anymore. Less resolution, worse handling, and I can crop to get the same image (with a bit less resolution, but still enough for large prints).

How do you tilt in sw? Focus stacking doesn't do everything.

Finally I'll sell my old EF Samyang 14 f/2.8. This is apparently very similar size to the 35 f/1.4 GM and should be much lighter than Sigma's ART series tank. If this has the same excellent pricing as the latest two GM lenses this will be a no brainer IMO (performance pending of course).

What a tough call on keeping the 12-24GM and the 24GM or going just 14 and 24.
I did use 18mm and 20mm this past weekend so it isn’t like I only go on the ends of the zoom
But I also think 1.8 is alluring for Astro. Even if I have to stop it down to f2 for coma that’s a whole stop. I think for me the big questions will be the effective T-stop at 14/1.8 vs 12-14/2.8 relative to the coma performance.
If the 14GM has a legitimate full 1.3-stop advantage at equal or better coma performance AND accounting for vignetting that is a big deal. If the actual advantage is less than 2/3 stop then I would probably keep the 12-24 GM.
