Talking about portrait shots…
A bit too crunchy and lacks character , a bit too clear
Reminds me of Sony 35/2.8
Images don’t have that soft feel a 1.4 lens should have
I like Samyang 1.4 images more, also few other manual focus 35mm lenses

You can get soft unclear images with any lens. You can't get biting sharp contrast with a soft lens though.
If you want that soft feel with the GM just put some vaseline on it.
But really if you want that look nothing the clarity slider can't fix.
I must say that that purchase of this lens has caught my attention while carring it around for the last week or so. Using it gives me so many inspirational possibilities. Can't say much about IQ as I've been only using it a week or so. I like what I see already, give it time...
Just love the images on this thread. If anyone is in the Philly area I highly recommend checking out Longwood Gardens. They do a great job anytime of year but especially a X-mas. Here are a couple snaps. The boys try'n to look tough in the last one? I think I cross posted one of these images by mistake on the 70-200GMii page. I had framed the same shot roughly both with the 35 and the 70-200. Oh well.
