I guess it's a matter of taste ... Sigma has this incredible "chunk of metal" feel.
That's true. But where the Sigma fails, I hope the Sony will shine - sun star rendering. This is Sigma's biggest weak spot. And it seems that the Sony will be even smaller in diameter, with its 49mm filter thread.
I for one am really looking forward to sample pictures from this one.

Hmm these are intriguing after all, was just thinking about what I need for landscape in the standard-ish range. Planning to get the 50 1.2 GM, which will limit my use cases for the Voigt 40 1.2 . . . might move along the Voigt for the 40 or 50 G to save some weight when backpacking (assuming IQ is up to expectations and cost is reasonable - hoping for less than $400 but maybe thats wishful thinking)

I hope that the 24G will be priced close to Sigma 24I, but highly doubt it. But I do expect all 3 Sony's to be closely priced between them. Maybe the 24 will have a slight premium. Guess we'll see soon enough.
I'm interested in 24 and 40, if the price is competitive. Image quality should be top notch, goes without saying. Which I think these will be.

They are high quality G-designated lenses. My guess is $698 to $898.
