p.32 #2 · Pre-order: Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM ($1,998)
Yeah, I've been fighting with myself over this the whole week and I think I will have to send mine back.
One corner is visibly worse than the others (the opposite one is extra sharp as expected though ), improves very slowly over the whole aperture range and its side is in general a bit weaker then the other one...

Not getting much luck with the two copies of the FE 50GM I've received so far.
The first one had a noticeable tilt and a slight swing at the mount and the second was not as sharp at center in comparison. (also not well centered but a little better)
As soon as I get an optimal copy to test, I will start a review on it.

Got mine from Precision Photo yesterday. Put $200 down to secure my place in line, worked out well and no tax charged. So far so good based on a few indoor shots to make sure the basic functions work. More testing to come. Form-factor/handling on the A7R4 is great without the hood, but when necessary I'll concede and use the hood, which is well made if nothing else.
My 3 lens prime combo that I had and loved back in my Canon days is finally complete. Don’t see any of these going anywhere. Size/IQ and the focal lengths I need.

Very nice trio. (wide, normal and tele) Congrats!
Thanks! Now I just need to convince myself Guy's old "choppy" CV 15 (version 3 I believe?) isn't going to be replaced by that new 14 GM...as that would gap well to my existing 3 lenses and sounds like it's going to be quite the performer. But- the reality is that the CV 15 is sharp and I don't really need AF at the UWA FL...at least I'm gonna keep reminding myself of that.

Mine is good enough, don't know about perfect. I don't spend my time shooting test charts, but the few shots I've taken are pleasing to my eyes.
I ran Fred's test on mine and it looked pretty consistent / good to me.

Yes, the Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 III is still a great lens with nice colors, sunstars and great flare resistance. If you don't need the f/1.8 speed, it's hard to give it up. I have it in M-mount and use so I can use the same lens for both Sony and Leica cameras.
We tend to want to pair our lenses using the same brand (all GM or all Batis for example) but I find myself mixing brands for the focal lengths I like to shoot.

So, I'll be the one asking this question, did anyone get a perfectly / good-enough centered one ?
Here's mine best vs worst corner (center focus) @f5.6 (it's actually the worst between f2-f4 I'd say as then other corners improve while the one is lagging behind) at around 100% (animated gif maker seems to resize a bit), just to show what I'm talking about.
BTW, it's all your fault Fred, I would have happily completed my kit by now if I didn't learn about decentering testing (joking of course)...

Here's mine at F/5.6. I am reasonably happy with sharpness but I do find the bottom-left/top-right distortion questionable. This is from C1 with the manufacturer profile applied.

Thanks, yours looks pretty much perfect to me. Mine loses a lot of fine detail in the worst corner, even at f5.6. Good to know there are good copies out there .

You didn't read my warning!
Warning: If you already love your lenses, don't put them through this test. You may get disappointed.

Unfortunately, my copy is also decentered and it's not just the corner. The blurriness extends inwards quite a bit on 1 side. Have tested it wide open and stopped down, centre focused and edge focused. Going to shop right now to request another copy and or refund

Well I bought Choppy from Guy and will keep it for good.
As a VM version it does AF on TAP.

That is indeed a beautiful prime combo. I already have and love the 24 GM and 135 GM and have been waiting for something to slide in there between them.
I also sold my Sony Zeiss 35mm ZA f/1.4 once I got the 16-35 GM so the 50 GM would play very nicely with the too.
Interestingly, I haven’t been much of a fan of the 50mm focal length in the past, but is starting to warm up to it. The 50mm perspective doesn’t add anything in itself so the subject truly have to be interesting for the 50mm to work out, I find. A demanding focal length for me but that is not a bad thing. Probably why it is a classic portrait lens, the subject is always interesting in itself.

After not following the photography gear market for quiet some time, I'm surprised to see Sony has finally done a 50 1.2! Great news. Will we also getting a 85 1.2? Always wanted to have those lenses in my Canon lineup but I switched to sony before I got my hands on them.
Also going to reread this long thread here, but are there already some bokeh comnparisons between this 50GM and say Sigma 50 1.4 and RF 50 1.2?
