Mine just shipped from focuscamera, ETA Friday! Ordered 4/29
Damn, maybe I shouldve ordered from them or one of the smaller dealers. B&H and Adorama probably have the most pre-orders, but hopefully also the largest allocation from Sony.
The payboo card from B&H makes order from them too tempting.

Mine changed to "Order in Progress" as did another backordered item, but the new charges on my Payboo card don't line up exactly. We will see, but I hope this means it will ship this week.
Mine also changed from Backordered to Order in Progress yesterday at B&H. But I was late to the game I think. I put my order in on 4/17.

I wouldn't sweat it. Last time, Adorama fulfilled orders on the 35 GM faster than B&H for late orderers like myself. Both retailers will probably get the most allotment of the 50 GM.

I expect not at $2k.
24/35 GM pricing feels like the value is there, $2k feels like Sony overstretched. Maybe they are testing to see if they can get Canon RF prices for high end glass. The market will decide, will be interesting to watch…

Really want this lens. I wonder if it'll have the same kind of waiting list the 24GM did on release.

It's still cheaper than the competition (not by much) but I agree, it was a bit more than I expected based on previous GM primes.
Depending on how well is sells, pricing could be adjusted down by the end of the year and we will also see some used ones at the buy and sell board.

The price is certainly high, but I value lenses by how often I use them. I’ll gladly pay top dollar for the best (arguably) 50mm on earth since I know I’ll use it almost every day of the year. Not so for any 135mm lens since I’d only use it a couple times a year.

As much as I adore my 135GM, I don't know if I would've bought it without the EDU pricing. It's unrivaled, though. Such a magnificent piece of glass.

I don’t have quite as much experience as some on this forum, but the 135GM is my absolute favorite lens I’ve ever used. I take a lot of action shots of dogs running around and it never disappoints. I might have a thing for 135mm though, as my previous favorite was the canon 135L

Oh no doubt the 135GM is fantastic. I’ve owned five 135’s over the years including the Canon 135L, Zeiss 135/2 ZE, and the Batis 135. All fantastic but the focal length is one I just don’t care for. I’ve tried. 🙂

Ironically, the 135 GM has been one of my most used lenses during the pandemic at home because of its fantastic minimum focus distance. I have used it for a lot of shots of lenses I put up on the B&S forum . I've used it for all the reasons I didn't buy it for, but for that reason alone, it's definitely a keeper. It's proven both utilitarian and satisfying to use.

Given the better than expected sale that leads to the current shortage, I say Sony has hit a home run once again. I do feel the GM 35 is facing more competition atm that it might not sell as well as Sony expected and the reception of the GM 14 has been luke warm at best (probably why it shows up on B&H edu promo)

And now Ladies and Gentlemen,a little discovery, pictured by Sony GM 50/1.2......
Last Saturday I visited a village 20km South-West of my home. There is a palace there - the former residence of one of the most famous Prussian marshals and a prince from the times of napoleonic wars.I mean Gebhard Leberecht Fürst Blücher von Wahlstatt,or simply Marshal von Blücher.
The palace was built as a castle in the 14th Century, but it's contemporary elevation shows the result of the XiXth Century renovation.Surrounded by the large park full of old oaks and picturesque fish ponds, where at this time of the year tenths of bird's species are singing.
Alas,I coud not get in for an espresso and a little glass of Hennesy XO drunk in a medieval courtyard, which i always do,as it is closed because of pandemic.

......there are two small cannons standing in front of the palace. At the first glance they look like XVII-XVIII Century's european cannons and not the ones from the XIX'th Century.............

........initially I thought they are Prussian made cannons, yet closer inspection revealed to my emotion the coat of arms of the last King of Poland and Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth Stanislaus Augustus Poniatowski.........

.......The cannon's production date says in latin 1779.Prussians must have stolen it from armory or win it during one of the numerous last battles fought by the dying Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. There are traces or re-calibration in the picture above,so they probably adjusted it to their standards in order to use further on.....
In 1779 American Brigade General Tadeusz Kościuszko - American and Polish historically important person was successfully fortifying West Point to prevent the bloodthirsty :=) assault of the British.Few years later he was back to leader the last, dramatic war against Russians to keep up independence, using similar cannons.May be the same.....
.....and in the cartridge chamber of one of the cannons live laborous ants, which can be seen when they come out in a row from the hole where the fuse was once applied to trigger an explosion of a powder charge and a cannon shot.

I have owned the same set of 135mm primes but I still enjoy owning my GM version. I have decided, most days to leave home my 70-200mm f/2.8 GM instead even thought I know its more flexible. I have not done a direct head to head comparison of the GM 70-200mm f/2.8 tOSS o the new RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS but it is lighter and I think a bit sharper than the Sony.

And B&H has just shipped mine. Again, ordered as soon as pre-orders went live. Should be here tomorrow though I won't have a chance to use it until the day after at least.
