Already mentioned why I don't want to borrow someone else's Sony high end gear, "The Button"

My gear is insured. If you wreck it I can buy an R1 and RF 600/4 DO instead

But trust me, it is next to impossible to hit that button accidentally unless you have sausage fingers or are an uncoordinated klutz. If you don't believe me ask all your other friends who have seen the light and are now shooting Sony (Dave, Steve, Rory etc)

I'm just interested in the A1, but if there is issues with getting the viewfinder to turning on, you can stop by the house and borrow the R5 and 600 III + telle's for the weekend...
Is that the issue Mark Smith is having, Its much harder shooting fast birds in flight with the rear LCD screen... can sympathize with him I had to do it with the 1dx III...

Supposedly Mark Smith has said that he had the EVF issue during the first week and now isn't getting it anymore. I still can't explain that one. But a number of people are now reporting the issue going away with time. Bizarre Regardless, weekend forecast is not looking like full sun much so EVF issue will be a non issue this weekend. I'll have to talk to Rory about it when we meet up this weekend to see if he has been getting it.

Will Sandy pack a lunch and some banana muffins for me along with the R5/600III? If so I may take you up on the offer

May be it was something to do with the chemical they spray on the camera's to disinfect them to avoid spreading covid to the customers. I'm sure they will not disclose that.... Who knows... glad it went away for him.

Just watched an interesting video about the A1's mechanical shutter. Apparently the A1 doesn't have a mechanical first curtain. Which would explain the unique sound the mechanical shutter makes.

I have watched enough of MG video's now to know he's a very methodical and careful speaker and knowledgeable on the subjects he talks about. Judging from the videos I watch and that's all I have to go on, it seems out of character for him. So Something really touch a nerve with him. I'm quite sure it wasn't TN, or any other click bait reviewer, they're not the same level he's at. I didn't do him any dis-service by pointing out the mistake he made. He's a big boy...

I am glad you have "NOW" watched enough of MG videos. No one can "NOW" accuse of forming opinions without looking at (or ignoring) the relevant facts

PS: Hope your definition of enough is not 3 out of 300 videos

At this point Pius Sullivan is just having too much time and trolling the tread.
I mean he has to wait literally for “years“ for canon to come up with something that comparable to what Sony did and for less than a pandemic year, all the fuss just went back to a Sony body.

I like how bent out of shape y'all are getting from his comments.

Seriously, though...these are cameras. Forget brand loyalty; buy what works for you. Arbitrage has the right attitude - he switches brands every five minutes.

Both the A1 and R5 are very capable cameras. Get out and enjoy.

I had watched about 20 of his videos by that point, you have to admit that's not bad for a guy that doesn't shoot Sony... but you can apply his videos to any brand... NOW, don't you have something better to do...

PS: Hope your definition of enough is not 3 out of 300 videos

You have to give Canon credit... they could get the viewfinder to turn on "NOW" for $3500 USD...

Well it is standard for all incendiary devices to be "instant" now isn't it.

Don't leave your R5 unattended while filming. Things happen like 'NOW'.

That's easy when you just put one of those low-res, low refresh, slideshow EVFs on a camera. When you play in the big boy leagues things sometimes take a little ironing to get the kinks worked out. Sony is on it and soon enough we will be able to enjoy a high-res, high refresh, live feed even in the sun. It will cost you but you've got to pay to play.

That's the problem with electronics, "Trade Offs... "NOW" Canon decide to give us a flippy screen with better res. and viewfinder that has descent res, it turns on when the action starts. "NOW" on the other hand Sony used components found in street lamps... that may turn on in the evening, morning or any time of day...

Did anyone mention to "Poseidon50" that English is not language, ...

I can do this all day...

I hate flip out screens because I'm too ugly to be a vlogger. That high res LCD is great if you love killing batteries as fast as possible.

I can also do this all day....

So easy to be wrong, doesn't take much energy.

English is a Germanic derived language and is recognized as such. In fact it is now recognized as the most spoken language on Earth.

That slide show effect makes it hard to focus, so it is easy to become confused. We all understand and sympathize with your handicap. The good news is that there is an a1 quality solution these days.

Oh, and flippy screens are the photographic equivalent of vanity plates.

You probably had to google for that info...
