Is it just me or does it seem that The Northrups are creating content just to lead into advertisements these days. The content is getting lower and lower in quality it seems.
This video actually isn't so bad. Maybe they're realizing how biased they are. I wish they tested color accuracy. I've seen other videos note that colors in videos are more accurate on the Sony A1.
The whole video is on 8k.
The 8k overheating limitation should have been a deal breaker for the Canon. Instead they just put the camera in the fridge and laughed about it lol

That is just funny. The guy who uses the by far slowest autofocusing lens in the entire Sony lineup to judge autofocus performance. The guy who uses settings that lower FPS to test max FPS. The guy who complains about settings he obviously don't understand the purpose of. As a Canon dude you should have taken the hint when he used some ancient 500mm Canon lens to test the AF performance of the R5 but I guess that is forgotten now.
You might want to take that up with Arbitrage and not me because, that's basically why the temperature went up in this thread a couple of days ago. I mentioned the R5 could keep up with the A1 in the auto-focus and tracking department, mentioned nothing about all the other great features the A1 has.. So I called Arbitrage out on the 7.1 glass he was using with the R5... then bombs away on Pius...
I'm sure Arbitrage will defend TN's thoughts on slow glass vs AF/Tracking...
Yes I was aware TN was using the Canon 500mm version 1 lens.

I found no difference in AF speed between f/4 Canon EF glass and f/7.1 native RF glass on the R5. At least no difference I could quantify. Regardless, the differences between R5 and A1/A9 AF are not to do with AF speed. They are nuanced differences experienced over time after shooting many different subjects. People shouldn't concern themselves with them. Enjoy what you shoot. If it works for you then there is no reason to care about what else is out there. If what you are shooting is not working for you then I'm happy to give my opinion on what else may be better if there is anything I've tried that is.
I enjoy experimenting and testing different gear. Especially when confined to only local spots during the pandemic when I can't travel to shoot something different. I have as much fun doing that as doing "photography". Once I can travel again, I'll concentrate more on photography and less on gear. At that time I'll choose my preferred gear from all my pandemic testing and run with it.

Just got yourself a new Sony A1 and a 400mm f2.8 GM. What do you do first? Shoot sports? Wildlife?
Nope. You mount it on a DJI Ronin!😀
Hmm, I'm still lacking the A1 and the new RS2 for that...
However fun combo and video indeed.
Your Kickstarter is also
Could you combine the 400 with the rotating?
I wonder how that would look like...

Guys..more reviews are not necessary. The camera is the cat's meow
If you have the budget and are a Sony shooter and the feature set makes sense then it is a no brainer. Sell all your other bodies as you will never touch them again. If you need a 2nd body then buy two A1s or pick whichever other body makes sense for what you use the 2nd body for.
The only caution I have with this A1 is the EVF blackout issue. Read the threads and take it into consideration. Hopefully either Sony will fix it or us forum members will figure out a workaround. Many are reporting the issue disappearing with time...can't explain that one but it is being reported by many.

Can we see some descent photo's so I can continue to evaluate the camera please, I don't want to see these far off action photo's with no detail.... or over cropped swallows
Oh, and I prefer not to see birds with jewellery or leather hanging off their legs...

If you don't think what I've posted so far is decent then I can't help you. I've posted bucket loads of images with only slight crops on Flickr and on here. On Flickr I post at full resolution instead of hiding behind a smaller posting size like everyone else does. They are free to view under View All Sizes up to 6K. I've disabled downloading so sometimes you can't see the full resolution if it is more than 6K. Just the way Flickr works unless you enable downloading.
I really have no idea why you would buy an A1 unless you are going to buy a 600GM or 400GM also. No point otherwise if you already have your high end Canon 600III, 400DOII and 100-500 on the R5. What would be the point? Just to get the 200-600? I wouldn't bother with that, you'll never take it out next to your 600III/R5. Like you said many pages ago, you always want to have the best lens in your hand and therefore that will always be the 600III unless you sell that and buy the 600GM. If you are seriously thinking of doing that you have two good friends (myself included) that would willingly lend you the A1/600GM as long as you want. You lent me the R5 and all the lenses many times so I could make up my decision. Of course I would lend you my A1 anytime you are back. if you take off from work early and fly home tomorrow I'll be two blocks away from your house from Fri-Mon over Easter

The only time I can tell the difference on your flickr site which awesome photo is taken with "pick any camera" is check exif data.... I don't have time for that Arbitrage.... So there are exceptions to the rule.

Simple, I want to see for myself what all the fuss is about with these Sony Camera's...
Already mentioned why I don't want to borrow someone else's Sony high end gear, "The Button"

Pack your bags and jump on the next flight. The A1/600GM/200-600 can be yours for the Easter weekend. I'll shoot some Nikon gear or my A9II with whatever lens you aren't using at the time. Otherwise we can arrange that for a later date. No point spending over $10K just to try out the system. That is why I asked to borrow your R5 and lenses before I spent $10K on that system.

The easiest way to tell is to click once or twice on the images. If they zoom in one or two times then it is most likely an A1, A7RIV, R5 or D850 shot. If the click does nothing it is probably the A9, A9II, 1DXII etc. Resolution is the game.
As I already stated, the A1 doesn't give me shots I couldn't get with the R5 or A9. It gets me A9 shots with lots more resolution and lets me use my 600GM investment. That is it.
