Anyone else notice a battery drain when camera is off, its slight, but its definitely there. i have airplane mode on, and the cameras are off with battery grips on them. in about a week one of my cameras drained about 35% in one of the batteries.

Think dialects, when you're talking about English.

Naw, I learned that in high school 50 years ago this year. I am a private school kid. Required two classic languages, plus 2 years of Latin. We were forced to study under threat of great bodily harm.

I did a 24hr test with the camera ON and in Power Save Mode and went from 100% to 100%. I haven't tried for longer than that.

Draining to 35% while OFF seems very odd compared to my zero drain in 24hrs with the camera ON.

You know what they say..."if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen"....oh wait...that can't be it....R5 shooters certainly must know how to handle the heat....

Damn Southern Islanders don't have enough work to do. Great time of the year for both of you to go on a shooting tour to the Yukon.

Both bring your gear up to Paradise North and I will test them both, but buy neither. Just pass your gear to me when I am ready to shoot.

And why the hell isn't this cross-posted to the Canon Forum

Yes I do have the grip on. So both batteries read 100%.

I just checked my camera this morning. I last charged it on Sunday night and unplugged it Monday morning. I turned it on once this week for about 2mins to test out the sensitivity of the LightDim stickers I bought on triggering the EVF. Otherwise it has remained OFF since Monday morning till this morning. This morning the batteries are reading 99% and 100%. So that is 4 days with camera OFF and no battery drain as the 1% loss was likely just from those 2mins.

Do you have the shutter set to close when the camera is off? Someone mentioned that could be it.

Hmm...one thing I just thought of....I do have the grip on the camera but I have the grip switched to Lock. I rarely turn the grip on as I rarely shoot vertical and sometimes accidentally hit the grip buttons and trigger things I don't want to.

I seem to recall I've had cameras in the past (probably Nikon or Canon) that would drain batteries if the grip was in the ON position. If you have a grip on the camera and have it set to ON (the white dot) then try it on Lock and see if that solves it.

I have the Sony grip on mine full time in the on position and no excessive battery drain.

Well there goes that theory unless he has an aftermarket grip on which have a greater tendency to do those type of things.
