Any Bedfords orders shipped yet? Saw on an earlier comment that their inventory would be limited and wanted to know if I made the cut for the first batch.
Spoke to Bedfords today and only about 11 were shipped and all of those went to SPS members. They added that Sony underestimated the number of pre-sale orders by a large magnitude. They will know tomorrow how many are in the next batch but it won't be enough to cover the 60+ pre-orders remaining. I am SPS so hoping I get in on the next shipment or two

this is a good reason to support a local or smaller mom and pop shop, build a relationship and you might be able to get on the list when new gear comes out.

Agree 100%. A few days after Sony a1 announcement, I called and informed my local store that I wanted to purchase the camera. I have a long relationship with the store. No deposit was asked. I got a call promptly today that the camera is ready for pick up. I just got the camera. I asked for a discount and he threw in a card and reader $500 in value which offset my taxes. This is what a good relationship with local camera store can get you.

Picked-up mine this afternoon, too late to test anything so employed my pet parrots (African Gray and Dusky Conure ) to do some flight inside the home. used 135 GM with ISO 12800, shot 10 + frames for 20 feet flight in very low light and I am impressed, every shot is perfectly focused on eyes and sharp. Will find some place this weekend to shoot but it's been crappy for BIF lately. Very impressed with eye focus so far, not able to compare with anything else but 1000% better than A9II.
Also, just got notification from Amazon for 2nd A1, wasn't expecting it but seems like big store has received lot more and small stores got minimum. My local dealer told me that they even have to go though priority list provided by Sony because they didn't have enough for SPS members. Not sure what to believe anymore.
Good luck for folks who are waiting, lot many people has ordered at multiple shops so there will be some more available as they canceled the orders.

robert614: To your question, got notice from UPS about an hour ago that they finally had my package and would be delivering tomorrow by noon; hopefully you received similar notice by now. Joe

Has anyone that ordered from Adorama seen any movement on their tracking thru the UPS network? My tracking still says “Shipment Ready for UPS”. Which sometimes happens when large palettes go out from retailers. The individual package often isn’t scanned until it reaches the destination facility.
I’m trying to figure out if that’s the case. Or if Adorama didn’t get the camera out before the last pickup last night. And it’ll be going out today.
I’ll have to stay home from work to sign for the package. So any information would be very helpful.

For those getting it via FedEx, keep an eye out. it was supposed to require a signature, which during the pandemic has been a wave through the closed door. Well I got a notification that it was delivered and signed by someone I never heard of. I immediately thought the worst and figured they delivered to the wrong house, but no... it was sitting in my driveway next to my garage, not even brought to the front door.
My UPS guy is the the best but FedEx is really hit-or-miss for me.

Thanks. I got the same notification a couple hours ago.
We have to wait an extra day, but I’m still excited!

Agreed. They had charged my card for a teleconverter I purchased through Greentoe and 3 weeks later, still no shipping info, had to ask Greentoe for a refund.

They charged my card more than a month ago and STILL haven't shipped.

Picked mine up yesterday at District Camera in Burke, VA. I pre-ordered on 1/27 from the store and completed the SPS form. As usual the transaction was easy and was kept informed throughout the process.

District Camera is great. I used them a lot when I was living in the D.C. area.

Received mine this morning at 9:00 am. The first thing I really noticed was how clear the EVF is! It is amazing and when fine-tuning manual focussing it seems so much easier. The next was the testing of the Hi+ and the shutter going at 30 fps! Setting mine up now and hope to get some test shots going soon. Hope everyone else has their deliveries soon.

Got out to play a bit today, something is screwy with the EVF sensor at least on mine. Sun 10AM sun, behind and to my right. When I'd lift to my eye the display would stay on and the EVF would stay off. If I brought it up more slowly and used my head to shade it a bit on the way to my eye it seemed to work.... I was not able to reproduce if I turned face to the sun, although I didn't try many times that way because I wasn't shooting that direction. Going to keep an eye on it.

My A9II and A7RIV do that on occasion also...annoying...I was hoping the new lower position of the EVF sensor on the A1 (A7SIII) would prevent that.
I think it happens when a bright light source is coming in from behind you and hitting the EVF sensor which blinds it to detecting your face/eye coming up to it. Although in some instances it never really made sense why it was doing it.

I think this is what it is, but I have to say this was far worse than I've ever experienced, and just fidgeting my face didn't resolve it, had to come completely away, and draw the camera to my eye at an angle. Hopefully the sensitivity or whatever it is can be tweaked in firmware, or I was just unfortunate in the conditions
