p.30 #1 · Pre-Order Sony Alpha A1 (50MP, 30fps, 8K)
This video has some decent parts to it. Shows the flash working, shows it tracking a swinging stuffed animal with eye-af, shows card writing speed etc. Auto Translate works okay.
If I'm reading the auto-translate correctly I think he says he tested the V90 card to get 260MB/s in camera and the CFe-A to get 600Mb/s. 260 is an improvement over previous tests on the A9II and A7RIV by Alik Griffin where he got 185 MB/s and 205MB/s respectively. If any German speakers want to double check exactly what was said it starts at around 56min mark.
He also demonstrates the MS sound between A92 and A1 near the end.

That video you posted above is useful: you can count the FPS using , and . keyboard keys.
So I went to where he had 2480 frames remaining, then went backward 120 frames by pushing, 120 times (= 2 seconds for a 60fps video) => 2525, so he recorded 2525 - 2480 = 55 frames in 2 seconds, which means 27.5 FPS.
Now that sounds like less than 30, and that's correct, but with a 1/250s shutter speed, that's actually the expected value: https://i.imgur.com/FhZrKRI.png
If you can't see the graph, here's the function I used: y = 1/(1/30 + 1/x), with some data points:
If the sensor limit is 30fps then normally he would not be able to get more than 26.79 fps, however I recorded 27.5, which suggests that either it the sensor gets exactly 30fps due to rounding errors, or that the limit is a little bit above 30fps, in this case around: z = 1/(1/27.5 - 1/250) = 30.899 fps.
With more data points (more than 2 seconds), we could calculate that limit with more precision.

WOW. lt looks like this camera was forged in the fires of mount doom. One Camera to rule them all. Putting aside the lord of the rings referance I have held off on buying the a9 as I heard the rumors for this pretty consistantly in the last year or so. While steep, this camera should easily last 5 years and will likely be 2 years ahead of the competition. Bravo sony!

While I'm rather impressed with the A1, the R5 impressed, too. I would not dismiss the R1 before it's seen the light of day.

Your summary is spot on. While he talks about having extensively tested the write speed before the live stream, he is a bit stingy with details (e.g. compressed vs uncompressed).

No offense but yea offense. Can we have a thread where we don't have to hear about Canon or Nikon. I don't give a rats ass about them or what they have. I shoot Sony only
Rant off
But seriously it's confusing and I and others want to hear only of Sony. It maybe like sport for some to talk about that I'm looking for hard core data

I'm not seeing any mention of Canon nor Nikon looking back over the past 3 pages of this thread. I guess there was a one liner about the R1 a few posts up. I can't recall what was said over the entire 30 pages but it seems the thread is now just discussing little tidbits that we keep discovering as more things trickle out.
Prepare yourselves for Thursday as we will have a lot to digest

Someone please convince me to sell my Leica SL system and lenses. I’m definitely getting the alpha 1 as I’m first on my dealer’s list. On paper there is no comparison between the two systems - the Sony beats it on all fronts.

Honestly I absolutely see no reason for two systems at this stage in technology. Several years ago I’d say sure but what the differences maybe today is very minimal. As long as the system you keep has everything you need to start with. Ima Pro that truly shoots many different things and I know nothing anyone else has I don’t need. Sure maybe some TSE glass but we can adapt
I tried like hell to make Leica work for me and I was there chosen one but it as a struggle back than .DMR and M8/M9. Same with MediumFormat . Loved it but doing events with it was not fun.

Has anyone seen any reference to the A1 having focus stacking or automated focus bracketing? I know it doesn't help with manual focus lenses, but I would still love to have it.

Bill, many are wondering too. My guess is it doesn't have it. If it did, Sony would have made a big deal out of it, since this would have been their first camera to incorporate such a feature that many people want and all the major competitors already provide.

I liked the video.
First to mention no AA-filter, etc.

For Germans it was nice to see the eye-AF work on The Mouse (a famous figure in German children televison) ;-)
They mentioned optimised micro lenses on the sensor to increase fill factor, less read noise due to improved circuits, much improved and accurate white balance (similar to the A7siii - seen by the extra IR WB sensor), better OOC colors.
Most was clear already from what was discussed here or on the web - but it was nice for me to see the flash in E-shutter at work. Mechanical shutter sounded much better, too (damped, quieter and of shorter duration).
Feel free to ask about specific parts if you didin't understand them properly.

I liked the section with the textile mouse dangling 1-2m from the camera where the camera kept up focusing (actual birds coming in another vid after the embargo). Coming from the R4 this looked rather impressive. I have little experience with the A9II but he claimed this was noticably better.
