Once again...no one ever learns...why are people pre-ordering a hot item from "the store that shall not be named"...it always ends in total disappointment for so many.
Exactly. I ordered from my local shop and have never been disappointed getting new items pretty much the first week they are distributed to the stores.

FWIW...just watching the B&H A1 special from earlier today.
Nothing much new but I did just get to a part where the Sony Pro Support guy said that from full buffer he was seeing CFE-A clear in 2 to 2.5s. To UHS-II SD (I'm assuming a top end Sony 300MB/s) was about 10s.
He also says that you can access all settings while it is writing to card.

I'm not sure if this was posted already but B&H mentions that 30fps will work only with G Master lenses:
"The other part is the forward-thinking engineering of G Master lenses. They have the proper motors to work at 30 fps. Unfortunately, it seems only the G Master series are able to support this speed. All other lenses will be limited to 20 fps."- https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/news/sony-announces-flagship-alpha-1-mirrorless-camera

I was wondering if this gotcha would come up. All the material at the A1 launch said 30fps with "select" lenses or some other wording alluding to the fact it was not all lenses.
The other interesting thing I remember from the 600GM launch was they specifically said they built the lens for cameras of the future. The motors and focus speed were limited not by the lens but by the cameras available at the time the 600GM came out.
It would be a shame if the 200-600 misses out on 30fps but not a deal breaker. 20 is sufficient most of the time.

Interesting. I wonder if that includes the 200-600 that will "only" do 20.
The limitation is the use of XD linear autofocus actuators. 200-600mm lens doesn't have them. At this moment, I would say that 200-600mm will be limited to 20fps. I would wait for the official word from Sony or the release of the A1 manual.
I wonder what is the maximum speed that GM lenses can keep up with?
If XD linear autofocus actuators play such a big role, I think that Canon is out of luck with upcoming R1 shooting above 20fps. There is no way they can pull more out of ancient EF primes. Unless they announce new line of RF primes at the same time right before the Olympics.
Interestingly, many of the 30fps lenses listed do not have XD linear focus motors. It would be interesting to know how many 3rd party lenses also support 30fps.

YES...200-600 made the list...I was a little worried as on one of the Q&A vids I watched they were talking all about the lenses with the linear motors and I was a little worried that the 2-6 missed the cut.

I’d be surprised if it works as well as a GM. The 200-600 might end up as the quirkiest lens in the ecosystem, compatibility wise. I’m sure you’ll let us know!

I actually find the 200-600 AF a bit more reactive than my 600GM on my A9II...so I have no worries about it on the A1. I never noticed the 100-400 being any faster either.

Could you post the link to the page that chart is on. I see that it is a photo off of Sony Japan. I tried to scour the A1 pages but couldn't find that chart.

And this is why we don't trust B&H
But I knew that couldn't be correct as on a couple of the Livestreams they said the list included 20 odd lenses.

I’m curious about the difference between the A1 being capable of 120 a/f calculations per second, and what the lenses can receive and execute. For example:
If that is correct, the lenses themselves can receive and execute less a/f commands than the bodies provide, but perhaps each A1 a/f instruction to the lens is backed by more data and thus of higher quality. For example: the a9/a9II might calculate and send up to 60 times per second with a 1:1 a/f calculation to a/f instruction ratio. The A1 @120 a/f calculations/sec might result in a 2:1 ratio.
I’m speculating on how this works, but would love to have more information.
