I think B&H setup some security measures to combat bots buying up hard to get components like graphics cards, CPU’s, etc...
Which makes buying any item the moment it’s available a little more difficult.

I was locked out as well on B&H, I switched to my work computer (which is still at home, but has a vpn of to somewhere else) and it worked fine. Took me till 10:03 to order.

As far as a potential A9III in 2022 or later....just not sure what specs they would strip out of the A1 in order to bring out a high-speed sports camera at the $4500 price point? The only thing I can see the A9III doing is having a lower MP sensor with better high-ISO noise performance. Maybe it could be the global shutter camera. But really with this A1 camera doing 1.5x readout that puts it at 1/240. It can now do standard flash at 1/200 in ES. It seems to me that there is plenty of opportunity to improve the a9 II without directly competing against the a1. And while still keeping the a9 III at (roughly) its current price point.
Also, it seems normal that a new camera that comes out a year or two later might have a few things where it is actually better than an older camera from a "higher end" series. So, an a9 III could possibly equal or better the a1 in some areas. Then we would simply be anticipating the a1 II, having those same improvements (or bettering them).
I think the days of a new model in the same series being a major leap are over. But, there are obvious incremental improvements on the table for the a9 II and the a7rIV that seem worthwhile and that won't push the price up a lot, nor really compete with the a1.

The customer service chat function for website issues is also full so I've sent them an email to see if they can let me back in. I have pre-ordered in the first minute multiple times before but never had this issue.

For me saving $400 in sales tax is the primary reason... but I agree in general. When I was looking for a 500PF people has been waiting weeks and I called up a smaller store and had one in a few days. I'd be the same thing I'd do here if there wasn't a savings to be had.

I think he is referring to the fact that you can't do 30FPS with Lossless Compressed. Also Lossless Compressed cuts your buffer by 50%+.
I'm pretty sure I'll just continue to shoot in Lossy Compressed as I've never been bothered with that on A7RIV and A9II and then I can maximize FPS when needed. Shooting at higher ISO like we do seems to eliminate any benefit Uncompressed or Lossless Compressed give you at lower ISO.

That is a good point. There is a lot of sales tax on an item this expensive so I can see why you'd go that route. The demand for this camera seems way higher than I expected a $6500 camera to be. Even at $8500 CAD my dealer says he was already getting lots of orders first thing yesterday. Glad I got mine in a few days before the announcement even happened to ensure my day 1 shipment.

Totally agree . There is no tax savings anymore and many smaller shops around the country will have less demand. Sure they may only get 2 but if your first who cares . Good luck everyone im going to wait and see myself . Im not in a hurry

Im having a real hard time with this myself, we are in the middle of a Pandemic for God sake. And NO the next stimulus check is no where near this.

My sales tax in Illinois would have been $568 had I not gone through Payboo. Fortunately for me, I was able to get in and make the order at B&H (via the FM link) at 10:00 a.m. EST.
