Anything more than SRBG in the viewfinder is totally pointless.
Really? Suppose I want to focus on a botanical feature (variegation in a leaf, say) which is entirely outside the sRGB gamut. That is, most of the leaf is a colour within sRGB but some part is outside. You cannot see the feature at all on an sRGB screen. I have images in my archive like this: green leaves and flowers. I can even print them out.
This is before we get to wider usabilty issues about whether what you see in the viewfinder conveys the overall mood of the scene, which aren't issues if you don't mind looking away from the viewfinder at the scene now and then.
Especially with the latitude in RAW files ... You also have many exposure aids with Mirrorless such as peaking and live feedback.
Gamut has nothing to do with luminance or exposure.
A wide gamut computer screen is important for printing on certain media. But you can’t adjust colour in camera in RAWs, so not much use for a viewfinder.

In this Australian A1 Q&A video the presenter says the camera should ship end of Feb. Not sure if that is correct or not but that at least suggests it will likely be early March vs late March.

I have a question about silent flash sync. I am glad Sony was able to make it but 1/200 shutter speed makes it kind of limited. For example I want to use flash on a perched humming bird in the shade. Having no sound of mechanical shutter would be amazing because I don’t want to scare the bird. However 1/200 is too slow usually here. Question: does high speed sync work with silent shutter on A1? I have not seen this point addressed by any reviewer yet.
No likely not.
Use mechanical shutter here. I find it amazing that it is (for a first time) possible to use flash in E-shutter at all.

Looks like the B&H website wasn't ready. It kicked me out at 10:00am as soon as I clicked Pre-Order and as of 10:12 it still won't let me in, even after completing a captcha multiple times. I also tried the mobile app and it wouldn't let me add it to my cart. I finally called and got my order in around 10:11. I have no idea where I will be in line because of this but I was pleased to see the expected shipping date is early March.

Everyone and their brother must have been using PayPal. I have security set up to send a security code to my phone when I use it, but it was taking so long that I kept sending it again. Then, the first one would finally come in and it would be invalid for the second request. Finally went back and used a credit card.
I am still getting security codes from PayPal 10 minutes later!!
This is something that I have always said made sense. A7Riv and A9 wrapped in one camera and improved.
Now, if only it had focus bracketing........
Didn't notice, anyone mention star eater

I told them not to let anyone in until my order was placed

Taking bets it's still there. I gave up waiting for a fix a long time ago...

- Battery life is class leading so far, so why a negative?
- Lossless compressed Max speed 20fps: I don't see this as a negative at all. Fully sufficient, as compressed so far provides great files and was great for almost all cases - 30 fps with compressed is fine. Many other manufacturers go to 12 bit in their fastest mode. Clears buffer much faster, too.
-Buffer: This was asked the Sony reps at the German live talk. They said buffer fills up quickly with 30fps but clears ultra fast - no contest to the long buffer readout the A9/A9ii had - they meant this is no issue in real life
-"Toggle between eye modes is a chore" - What do you mean here? ...Show more →
battery life is the lowest rated out of any sony camera with z battery.
lossless compressed is still a negative, simply pointing it out because it was asked
buffer I guess is not really bad, just not what you may be accustomed to with the A9, it'll probably behave much better since the A9 would only fill with extended shooting, offload was too slow.
AFAIK, using animal eye af vs human eye af has been an in menu operation, cant assign to button.

I pre-ordered from BH... I was logged into my BH account in their website and got the captcha @~9:58 but I got past that and on a refresh right around 10am the pre-order button showed up and I was able to get through the process (which took me a little longer because the payboo card wasn't where I thought and I had to find it, nice to save the ~$400 in sales tax).
