My dealer in the US is stating that the only official word they got from Sony is the April 12th date. I am patiently waiting.

That would match the situation in Poland, some retailers started listing the lens as "available in external warehouse" so it should be a matter of days now .

Ours shipped today. Another dealer close-by has one in stock, too. So it seems lenses are shipping.

I was told it should be nearer the end of the month by my local bricks & mortar shop here in the UK.

Just received mine. Perfectly centered, perfectly balanced on my a7r3. It's gonna be a keeper

Wide open.

Thanks for your answers everyone. I guess that based on your statements that it should arrive within a month. No news from my dealers, and no other dealer that I know here (France) list the lens as "in stock".

Received my 35 GM today. Due to the bad weather, I'm not sure if I'm able to do some test shots in the next few days.

Val d'Oise. Commande en ligne chez missnumerique. Je n'ai eu qu'une réponse générique sur le manque de disponibilité de l'article et le manque d'informations de Sony concernant un prochain approvisionnement... Bref, j'attendrai.

FYI english readers : just a small discussion regarding our locations in France and the availability of the lens from his dealer.

35 GM received. Perfectly centered. Compared to my 2 Sigmas, where one needs to go:
Sigma has significantly stronger field curvature (focusing on the corners equalizes sharpness more, but still with a visible advantage for the Sony).

Sharpness in the central region is very close, need to go to 200% to see differences,so not the difference lenstip or cameralabs showed.

The Sigma has shallower DOF at the same aperture, but the Sigma also is clearly not 35mm (106.4% magnification of the Sony yields the same size, so 37.4mm focal length if I calculated it right).
Getting closer to account for the difference, the Sony is slightly sharper, but not 69.7 lp/mm vs. 55 lp/mm, as lenstip shows.

The Sony shows similar levels of CAs in the mangenta parts of the frame, but much less CAs in the green CA part. Very big difference, here.
Much less flare prone, too. The copy we had as loan from Sony was similarly good, so certainly not an outlier.

EDIT:
See update below using a bank note.

Interesting observations about sharpness, so maybe copy variation in both cases plays a significant role and lenstip got a bad sample of the Bigma...

37.5mm assuming Sigma to be exact 35mm which it may not be.

Yes, here I assumed the Sony to be the exact 35mm. So there is a difference and at closer distances your target to judge sharpness is clearly zoomed in compared to the Sony. Then factor in the lens profile correction. The Sigma has a strong distortion and you loose a bit in addtion.

Just did a new test from typical portrait distance for us photographing a bank note to judge fine detail in perfect light conditions.
There you can clearly see the Sony to be sharper. At first I thought I misfocused the Sigma several times and repeated the test again, but it turned out to be the same. Here there is a clear advantage when comparing the fine detail.

Sounds good, thank you very much.

Field curvature is surprising. I haven't noticed it so far and I haven't found it in reviews either, https://phillipreeve.net/blog/review-sigma-35mm-1-2-art-dg-dn/

What is your impression of the subjective points, colors and bokeh?

Sample pictures would be appreciated if you don't mind.

I remember a comparison Philippe Reeve made between the two sigmas and the 40mm. the 1.4 is wider than the 1.2 which might confirm that as you say, the sony "is" the real 35, and the sigma a bit less wide.

I don't have all of them on this laptop, the other are on my wife's Imac, but here a link to two images of the bank note, which I have here, with the A7riv such that magnification is the same at f1.4, central region. If I have time I update the folder later. Zoom in to 200% and you should clearly see the difference. This was the best Sigma shot (I did both MF and AF with the cross-hair magnification). All the GM shots are similar. It seems the GM is more accurate in AF.
