Got a little break now Tuesday not Wednesday. So I can maybe get to BB Wednesday as I’m working the rest of the week
I wonder if they intentionally over-estimate how long it will take to arrive for pickup so that it doesn't arrive "late". My BB order wasn't supposed to be available for pickup until Wednesday, and I was able to pick it up yesterday, so you may get your notice that it's available for pickup earlier as well.

Well for the sake of Big Bronco, I hope you get a perfect copy, so we can all see everything the lens is capable of. My copy from BB was noticeably sharper in the top left corner than my copy from Adorama, but sadly the other three corners were noticeably softer. I'm thinking third time's the charm.

Well, I talked to my guy at Hunt's and he said Sony is just sending them 1 to 3 at a time, same with A1's. Which is crazy when you figure they have 8 store locations. He said if you are not in the front of the list it's going to be awhile at this rate and if they are available at Best Buy jump on it. So I did
Should be here Wednesday fingers crossed.

So I just received my 35 GM last Friday, and I’ve played with it over the weekend on my A7R4. I must say the sharpness and clarity is definitely there, as many of you have described. But I just noticed a pretty sizable particulate stuck behind the rear glass element, and quite a bit reflective too... I’m torn on whether to send this back 🙁
What would you guys do?

I don't think the GM will beat your ZA in general smoothness, but it has some advantages like less CA / bokeh fringing or no onion rings.
I'd say that if your top priority is rendering and you don't care for the combination of f1.4 aperture and compactness, there are other valid options, like both of the Sigmas.
Thank you. I think I will wait a bit before upgrading my ZA for now.

I was supposed to get the lens today but UPS is delayed by a day. So, tomorrow is the big day. This will probably be my last post in this thread and hopefully for others, too, since the lens seems to be in stock in most big stores now. Happy shooting, y'all!

My Amazon pre-order arrived on Monday. Overall, impressed by the size which is very similar to the 24GM which is to say well balanced and ideal. Substantial but not too big.
I'll have an opportunity to take it through its paces on Friday, but with some preliminary shots at home, pretty excited to have something exciting in this focal range.

Yes, the size is imho perfect for a non-C camera. I've been waiting for this kind of fast 35mm since the very moment I laid my hands on 24GM. It's amazing Sony managed to achieve this form factor with superb optical qualities.

My B&H order from April 22 is just shipped. After a conversation with a rep, I wasn't expecting it until well into May at the earliest. It's a nice surprise. Friday can't come soon enough. 😀

I had the same experience. My order from 4/18 was back ordered then “processing” for 2 days. I decided to chat with them and instantly it was shipped and I got tracking. Not sure if it was a coincidence or if they expedited the processing but it worked

Lens is expensive. You of course should be able to expect it to be clean. Should you ever decide to sell, the value would be less. I would suggest asking for an exchange.

Yea, I actually just sent it back this morning. The overall market inventory appears to have recently caught up to demand, so I’m not too concerned about trying again. I was initially worried that it’d be backordered everywhere.

Was looking online and saw my local Best Buy had it in stock, so ordered for curbside pickup this afternoon and will have it ready for when my A9 II arrives next week.

I see what you see, but dont think you’d ever notice it except in testing - you can’t unsee it, so test the few you get, keep the best, and enjoy the lens.
Well, after testing 3 additional copies from 3 different retailers, this first was the best, so I’m keeping the initial one after all. All three additional copies had even softer top right corners and many had worse bottom corners. I think I’ve scratched the perfectionist itch as far as sanity will allow.

mine is finally in stock at my dealer (ordered in january), will likely have it on monday. then it will be a hard time figuring out if it can replace my 35i, which has really grown on me... especially so since the a7c is my only ff body for the time being. sold my a7iii and wait for the a74 announcement to see if should get an a74, a7riii or a7riv as a second body with my a7c.
