You guys have quite few variety of species this time of year...dam. I need to come up there for the fall. I'm waiting for colder weather to get more waterfowls.
Do you guys think a switch from a EOS R to a R6 or R5 worth it ? In term of AF? I find that the Autofocus phase detection (PDAF) from the R is less good than a 5DIV. Is there a great improvement with theses new bodies DIGIC X or it’s better to wait for a Quad pixel af body ?
Nice shots. If I may ask, how much noise reduction and in what program are you, and a few of the other posters here, using? I find the R5 files to be quite noisy from ISO 1000 on up using my RF 100-500, EF 100-400 ll with or without TCs and my EF 24-105 etc. Often, the noise is more than LR CC can handle. I am pretty disappointed in the results more often than not.

I am not skilful enough to get decent noise reduction from LR. However, DxO PL4 does a really good job with files from the R5 or failing that use Topaz DeNoise or similar in conjunction with LR.

I'm using Topaz Denoise. I know Pius is using that also.

I own both 5dmkiv and R5 though am unable to comment on the R. The 5dmkiv is still an extremely capable camera though it suffers from the inevitable need for calibration, it struggles to focus accurately in strong side, back lighting, has a slow fps, smaller number of MP, af points, lack of aed, etc. Will it suit your needs? That’s difficult to say and while the quad pixel concept seems interesting, it isn’t here today.

Hey, thanks you!
So, you will recommand this R5 ?
The R is less accurate/fast than the 5DIV with central point AF. I have a 6D V1 and the central point AF is far more sensitive than the one on the R ahah..

I downloaded the trial it seem you convert them to DNG first cuz no support for CR3
