Ruby-crowned Kinglet; playing with the 2xTC. This little guy was hard to get as it kept darting around and the darkness, along with the 2x, made it even tougher to capture the shot. On this day, I wanted to shoot some higher ISO photos and test the 2x on the camera, along with Animal Eye Detection to see how they work together in not so good lighting condition (i.e. challenge the camera). I know we want to post those nice well lit photos, but I wanted to see what the nasty not so well lit, slower AF, images can look like. This was the best I could get this day in the canopy of trees. The image looks better on my computer, so something must be happening when loaded to the web.
Note: I have to reconsider altering my PP work flow a little with the new camera as I've never used such a high mp camera before and I just started using LR Classic for the first time. I need to make sure I don't overdo things in post. It seems a little PP is best with the images from this camera. Also, I need to spend some time and set up some camera profiles.
My first outing doing landscapes with this camera. I've been focused on birding mainly throughout the summer, but now that the birds are mostly gone and sunrise is finally at a reasonable hour again...time to start looking for some cool scenery!
Here's the top of Elbow Falls from last Sunday. Taken in -23 C weather. The camera worked flawlessly.
It's been slim pickings lately and even when I returned to my old stomping grounds in the mid-Atlantic, it was relatively quiet. The eagles and hawks were maintaining distance and with atmospherics in play, shooting at 1000+ yielded marginal images. At least I managed to get some good hikes in.
