I'm jealous of all you folks who have all these wonderful birds nearby to photograph. I had to settle for some flying creatures of another kind today on my lunchtime walk!
Loving this RF 70-200 lens.
I got a Cooper’s hawk regularly showing up in my yard, but unlike here, it never poses for me and always finds a spot behind branches. And the hummingbirds hover close by until I lift a lens.

@RobAmy@, this is the best that my back yard can offer
I"m guessing that your friend may be a juvenile Northern Goshawk. Can any of you raptor experts confirm this?
I have two of them hanging out up high in the trees in my back yard for several weeks however i've not been able to get a clear shot of either one. Later on I got lucky when I photographed one that was perched on the edge of my neighbors roof throwing a competitive squak-fest, which is what motivated me to grab a camera and run outside, and then a series of shots of the other one in a nearby tree in our back yard lunching on a small squirrel.
I know, I know, I'm thinking that I need to get set up again and post these and other recent pictures in the Canon Summer Image Thread.

This is what happens when I get bored waiting for birds to show up.
Can't figure out why they didn't come around that morning.
Nice! How do you like the 500 II on the R5? Over here we have a CPS promotion that gets me a free EF adapter but it's not in yet so haven't had a chance to test mine. Would've loved to do this somewhere in Africa but currently that's not the best bet..

I love it! AF is ridiculously fast and with the new animal eye tracking it is just crazy. I have no immediate plans on buying any RF lenses and will be using my EF glass for a long time. If and when I pick up an RF lens, it will probably be the 100-500 first to replace my 100-400II.
