After a long winter and a longer journey of nearly 1800 miles, the Osprey have returned to the Midwest. They've wasted no time building a nest and breaking it in. Tough combination of poor lighting and distance necessitating a 2x TC, but it was a treat to see them along with the other photographers.
Thanks! ES. I did get the rolling shutter effect on a few images. I am thinking ES is not good for hummingbird images, so I may switch to EFCS or MS the next time.

Even if you get a few with rolling shutter, at 20 fps there's hopefully enough unaffected images to choose from.

And you are right. Approx 98% of the images are just fine. But I am paranoid about getting an image with the perfect pose and perfect lighting .... ruined by the rolling shutter.

Were you at Conowingo? Was there today and the Eagles were busy though most of the action was towards the island. Have a lot of images to sort through. It’s the first time I’ve brought the R5 there and it performed really quite well. Still had some trouble capturing at distance against the trees and had an interesting series of a dive where the af held on the descent, lost it at the strike and then reacquired at take off. Overall, very satisfied.
