Nice Hummingbird images Pius. But not really much of a challenge for any modern camera.

Let's see some King Fisher sequences like Arbitrage is posting.

I have been there and done that with the "DSLR" 1dx II + 600 handheld... , Arbitrage was still practising on his first MILC....

Looking for R5 images in this thread.

Also the slow frame rate missed the moment.

Eyes are a bit soft as well. Maybe you should follow Arbitrage's supplied link.

No trolling here, arbitrage... just merely responded to a request for a fellow member. I hope my posting photos are not causing you outrage, I can delete them if you're offended in anyway.

I have no problem with you posting images...this is an R5 thread so it is fair IMO. I take issue with saying the eyes aren't sharp on those hummer images. Click into Flickr for even more detail but clearly the eye is the point of focus on those images. I don't see any difference between eye sharpness in those and the ones you posted. All of them and yours are sharp on the eye area.

Anyways, got to leave this conversation as I'm hopping in the car to get to EL for sunrise with my kayak....hoping for more KFs with blurry eyes....

Wouldn't waste your time. Take a look at his flickr. There are an awful lot of missed focus in his BIF shots and those are ones he posted? Imagine what the bad ones looked like.

Lol Soo true! I would also say that the A1's worst day in the field is equal to the Canon R5's best day ha

There will be a lot of people switching cameras a few Months from now. But it won't be Sony a1 shooters switching to the R5. It will be Canon R5 shooters switching to the Canon R3. They will be looking to get as close as they can to the benefits that a stacked sensor system like the a1 delivers.

The R5 was a defensive action/video camera release by Canon. It will soon just be the lower cost compromise camera for Conon. The serious Canon shooters will have paid twice to get close to the a1.

The up side for them is that will have the best hand warmer disguised as a camera in the industry. We Sony shooters will still have to wear gloves when it is cold.

Come on, how many Sony cameras have been bought and sold on the climb up to the A1?

It is a matter of timing and increment.

I would say with Sony it was well spread out over time. Starting with the a9 over 3 years ago Sony shooters had three years of stacked sensor, high frame rate, silent shooting, no rolling shutter, and advance AI focus capabilities. Sure some upgraded to the a9II but didn't gain much in performance doing so. Many have stayed with the original a9(II) purchases. To this day they still they have the majority of the stacked sensor plusses.

The Canon R5/R6 were the first Canon mirrorless cameras that were competent for fast action shooting such as BIF. They still have shortcomings due to the non stacked sensor architecture. But if you wanted to shoot action with Canon mirrorless you jumped in anyway. They were released for shipping less than 1 year ago.

Soon Canon will be selling a true stacked sensor mirrorless camera with all the benefits of that architecture. The serious action shooters will be upgrading. Yet even then if the specs are as expected they will be getting a lower resolution camera. Somewhere between an a9 and a1. Probably no 8K if the resolution is as expected. Not the flagship, this has been acknowledged by Canon. So even if they buy the R3 they still don't have the flagship R1 a1 competitor yet. That will be next year. So to keep current Canon shooters will have bought 3 expensive cameras in 2 years to reach a1 levels.

From what I have seen, and my situation matches, is shoot the Sony a9 for three plus years, upgrade once to the a1. One upgrade in more than 3 years of shooting, and you have the most advanced action mirrorless camera on the market.

By shipping the R5/6 generation and going straight to a high MP, 8K Z 9 camera Nikon shooters will only be buying one new camera to reach flagship status.

Looks like of the big 3 Canon has the most advanced "milk the user base" system going on.

A camera with stacked sensor tech is also for anyone who needs a completely silent camera, even if not shooting fast action.
