Well the answer to my OP question has at least been partially answered as evidenced by Canon finally releasing that fuzzy dark family photo that shows the R6. At least we know it's real now.
Still not convinced on the 20mp rumor as it just seems too odd. I think my wife's old T1i from 11 years ago was 15 or 16 mp so again....wth?
But apparently this R6 is going to literally be a baby R5 with the exact same AF system which is HUGE in my book.
With the money saved over the R5, I think I could buy a nice rain coat for it.
Just looked at the other thread it said R6 is out in Aug, R5 Sep. A lot can happen before then that could goof that up. Please remind me how I don't follow the rumors most of the time and encourage me to continue doing that

I have been telling myself and my wife for the past 4-5 months that IF I cave and splurge on buying the R5, that I will have to leave the Canon thread here and just stay away from all gear related forums for the next 10 years until I'm ready to buy another body.
Neither one of us, especially my wife, are buying into that idea.
These type of gear forums have probably made attorneys rich over the years with divorce cases.

Yes, that's the fuzzy dark family photo I was referring to.
Nice to see something official from Canon even though that's all we got so far.
There is even one more and the hid the name. The one on the far right is the Ra.

I believe the hidden name one on the left is the RP. That photo is basically the entire RF family line up that we will be able to get our grubby hands on in 2020.
Much more to come next year including some great whites I'm sure.
Looking at that photo, I think that is pretty impressive work considering the RF line only launched about 1 1/2 years ago.

You are correct. I was just on the way here to say that. I forgot about the RP.

Well there is also a certain $6500 USD camera released a few months ago from Canon that is 20MPs and another $6500 one from Nikon with 21MPs....so re-purposing that recent sensor may be what they are doing?
I still would have liked to see the R's sensor in the R6...30MPs is a sweet spot.

I've read firm reports (rumors) that specifically said the R6 will NOT have the 1dXIII sensor. Maybe the 1DXII sensor?
But then how does the rumor of "The exact same AF as the R5" work out?
I was just going to post about that. AF the same as the R5. That will make people happy if true. Me too on a 30mp sensor but I don't think so unfortunately.
Why is this always so difficult. There is always one thing that throws the wrench into the works.
For those saying Canon is just leaving mid-range DSLRs behind for video, forget FF video, slow motion...you were completely right.
But with mirrorless, they are looking to come back with full steam ahead, with not just one, but two serious hybrid cameras
I guess they've finally come to the conclusion that these cameras won't cannibalise their cinema sales. And that there is a certain market segment that needs to be taken back.
The r6 was the one that intrigued me more when the mentioned it. I don't need a balls-out video or high mp camera. I just hope it's not crippled with a 1/4000th max shutter speed.
