LP-E6NH is anew higher power battery, same size as LP-E6

I really thought the R5 would be the sports camera but if the R6 has the same focusing system and at 20 MP, that might just fit the bill too.

I've suddenly become very interested in the R6. Surprisingly one of the questions I have is if it has a Quick Control Dial in the back.

Also, will it use LP-E6 and -E6N from older cameras.

I was just going to post about that. AF the same as the R5. That will make people happy if true. Me too on a 30mp sensor but I don't think so unfortunately.

Why is this always so difficult. There is always one thing that throws the wrench into the works.

I can see the progression in the product line, R6 20mp, R6II 24 mp, R6III 26mp, R6IV 28 mp etc. Yes I would have liked a 30 mp sensor but if the R6 has outstanding low light performance that would be a useful compensation.

Good chance I'd think. Might just be higher capacity. Idk that the li-ion Canon uses are super high capacity probably some room for improvement.

I am guessing by the V and capacity that it's 2 li ion cells in most Canon batteries.

It would make more sense to me if the R6 turned out to be a 20MP Mirrorless pro body ala 1D series. Then I could see the simultaneous release approach, and those f/11 lenses start to come into the picture, so to speak, for action photographers.

As per Canon Rumours today

The Canon EOS R6 is aimed squarely at people looking for high ISO performance,

Under $2500 USD (Rumored)

High ISO performance makes me think maybe an A7s type camera. Remember the A7s series only 12mp.

In the current market, it is more like an A7III (or A7IV) type of camera where it has a lower megapixel count with great low-light performance, but it is also able to do most of what the TOL model that at a considerably lower price.

I expect the A7sIII (or rather A9s) to be in the 4000$ price bracket with even higher frame rates, so not a direct competitor.

The R6 sounds like the perfect wedding camera "everyone" has been asking for.

Good AF
Dual card slots
Small raw files

Not overly expensive

I'm not in the business, anyone who is, what you be missing ?

( apart from weddings to photograph these days )

As a wedding photographer, I would be leaning more to the R5.

Why do Canon bodies have various button/dial configurations? R has a Touch Bar, RP does not, 5 doesn't have a dial, 6 does. Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to manufacture to keep a similar layout like the Nikon Z7/6 bodies? Also, they could produce more.

It appears the R with touch dial was a failed experiment so they didn't use it for the RP. I must that have missed something along the way. How do we know 5 doesn't have a dial and the 6 does?

The RP didn't release too far after the R, I thought it was like a few months after

There is a 360 video on YouTube from Canon, also there is a photo of the rear of the R5

The RP was released 5 months after. I know the touch bar did not get a very warm welcome but I'm not sure how how fast they can make changes in design and manufacturing.

I see a dial on the R5.

My thoughts exactly. The R6 does not mirror the position of the 6D to the 5D DSLR series. If that were the case it would be have 30MP, & a single card slot.

In order to promote the RF system Canon has to "cover the bases" with the body's currently in production.

The RP= the entry level, ML, FF" Rebel", the "R" = the 6D series, & the R5= the 5D slot.

What's missing from the above, & fulfilled by the R6 is a fast, low light, Action prioritized body, which may be a lower cost sibling to the future R1, as the 6D series was a more affordable sibling to the 5D series.

Let's speculate about speculations! How exciting!!!

Just assume any device that is scheduled for this year will be produced in smaller quantities than normal, will be harder to find than normal, and will probably be a bit more expensive than normal.

In the absence of any new announcements, specs, news, or whispers, thoughts like this could and should be confined to existing rumor threads.

I'm fortunate to have a friend who works for Canon in Japan, whom isn't shy about telling me what Canon is up to. Canon and Canon affiliates often leak information to Canon Rumors for the benefit of their marketing and sales. Nothing of great importance is ever divulged unless Canon decides for it to be so. The release and months leading up to the EOS R and RF line were a great example of that. The R5, R6, and so on are all the same. However, they've changed their minds several times to about what to do with all the upcoming equipment. The $6,000 price mistake by a dealer a few weeks ago wasn't a mistake. It was Canon testing the market for the R5. They've also moved the release date just for that camera alone several times. Originally, it was going to be separate from the R6. The point I'm making is this, these 'rumors' and 'speculations' aren't just made up of thin air. They have a source and intentionality behind them. Canon this time around has just had so many issues trying to figure out what to do with everything going on. Their whole release strategy was completely imploded.

That just proves my point. Nothing is final till it's final. It speaks volumes that Canon is floating trial balloons via rumor sites, though, it shows that 1) they don't know what they have and 2) what the market wants and is willing to pay. No surprise there, that's classic Canon.

I don't envy any camera manufacturer in these modern times. It's a quickly shrinking industry with dwindling returns on R&D costs across the board.

$6,000 is quite a test number. So far the rumours are under $4,000. That is quite a gap. I wonder what they would achieve by that test. I’m no expert but they could have hired me to tell them how reactions to $6,000 would be. Not good. Cheque please

The R5 has a mode dial on the top right where your thumb would reach. Next to it there is an LCD screen. (between the hotshoe and dial)
