A huge "however" comes to mind..... If Canon does, however, sell the R5 for $3300 to $3500 it could be such a huge success it could be camera market changing. Sony would have to do some serious price reductions and Nikon might just abandon "high end" video outright.
Absolutely. I'd be curious to see if Sony would either increase the MP count on the A7IV or slot a model in below the A7RIV? I'm guessing (and that's really all it is) that this thing is AT LEAST $4,500.

I didn't expect the R5 IBIS to work in conjunction with EF IS len's--That's a definite + for me!

I watched the portion of that video 3 times and they don't state that the optical stabilization of EF lenses will work with IBIS, just that OIS will work in conjunction with IBIS. We don't know if this is only RF lenses or all EF and RF. Still don't give a price point photo specs, or release date, just a stay tuned for more info later.

Great news that it will work in combination even for some EF lenses....

I'd expect it would work with the newer lenses. I hope it includes the big whites, IS II and not just IS III.

The R5 is a spec monster to be sure. I would be very surprised if the R5 sells for less that $4500. At least when it ships. Maybe price reductions 6-9 mos after release.
Sure the R5 is a "5D class" camera but with these superior specs over the Sony, and Nikon without even a rumor of a rumor of a similar camera (and D6 video=D5=4k30p) Canon has very little competition. Add the very large pro and advanced amateur user base who will be looking at the R5 and it's game over.
The marketplace is different now because of the pandemic. Production will be limited for quite some time. If you can only produce 50% of your normal production, you make up for that with higher price. At least initially.

Might not be that high. Canon wants to sell RF lenses more than anything. They could easily take a hit on R5 profits to drive lens sales, which have always been the meat of the profit margins, I believe.

And just imagine how this R5 is going to make those world leading RF lenses sing! People are blown away already by their performance on the R and RP.
I can't wait to see their true potential finally being released with this new R5 beast. I suspect we're going to see what those 12 pins can do very soon.

Hopefully they come up with something better than a 500mm f/7.1 lens. I still might buy that lens as I've gotten used to f/6.3 and slower lately but more likely will buy another 400DOII with TCs which on 45MPs will be plenty most of the time. I continue to kick myself once per day for selling my 400DOII and TCs back in October

Someone had to do it, thank you Canon..... now for the lenses, if I can get the same ones I have for sony, I'm jumping ship, but if sony makes a comparable body..............
which will come first?
Haha, maybe Metabones will need to make an E mount to RF mount adapter just in time for the R5.

Oh, you know they're going to. With my luck the first great white will be a 5 lb. 500 f/4.
I've been drooling at that 400 f/2.8 II over in B&S, but I need to save my pennies for this R5.

No interest at all in 100-500, just slap the 1.4 on a 100-400. 500/600 f/5.6 DO is all I’m interested in, and one reason I won’t leave Nikon, the 500 PF is ridiculously good and I still can’t get over the size. I will get R5 for sure, but I’m more interested in a new gen 500 f/4 hopefully 2.5kg max and 300 f/2.8 just under 2kg. I wonder why Canon hasn’t kept DO lenses coming.

Won't 7-8 stops of combined IBIS+IS make this lens as useful at 500 as the EF 100-400 II is at 400? I'm thinking it will be great for us non-BIF shooters.
R5 IBIS + some EF IS – likely will add additional stops of stabilization but may not be 5-axis due to bandwidth of EF communication protocols. But maybe some recent white primes may work fully. Canon is certainly not to be underestimated at the moment.

Lots of stops of IBIS is all good if your subject isn't moving. Mine move even when not flying so I always need to keep SS at a certain level and tacking on more and more IBIS stops isn't going to help at all.
Since EF lens IS is a function built into the lens, I wasn't aware that any of them communicated any information to "the" Camera, as some seem to indicate?

I have been shooting with the 100-400 and a 2X. The thing about this is the communication between an EF lens and the ML body. The R has a High Speed Display option for EVF lag but only works on RF lenses. Not sure what else will be effected.

Sony E has a shorter flange distance than Canon RF, so how would that work out other than as a macro adapter?

Just a guess, but the camera can read changes caused by the lens and lens IS. It would be reading light from the lens?
